Any West Yorkshire Home edders interested in Heroes Berks style flexi school/free school?

Been doing some research into Heroes Flexi School in berks - there seems to be nothing in West yorkshire or even close similar - is there anyone near me that would be interested in a similar set up - as home edding ex primary teacher have also toyed with idea of very small free school run along home ed principles but the heroes model which is run as a not for profit social enterprise would probably be a better fit. I want to meet up with some home ed families on a regular basis and at the moment its nearly impossible to find anyone - I'd be more than happy to run some activities/ teaching

Don't know what age you mean, but there's Glenn House at Hebden Bridge hebdenbridge.inuklocal.co.uk/Schools/PreSchools/The-Glen-House-Montessori-School-111-8213 takes flexi I think. I was under the impression there was quite a lot for home ed in West Yorks, there's certainly loads in South Yorks where I am! I do have to say that I can't see home educators getting a free school started because of the herding cats thing but a group in Oxfordshire were looking into it at one point.

I haven't actually found anything for home in in west yorks so if anyone can point me towards anything gratefully received - I have links with a high school that is becoming an academy trust - very eco friendly and forward thinking school and there is a possibility of utilising their facilities for workshops etc - I'm also thinking there must be a way to capitalise upon the funding available for free schools to allow home edders to meet and work together in a more formal way whilst still retaining the ideals of home education. I know home edders have diverse views about what home education should look like but perhaps herding cats is a little strong?

We live in West Yorkshire and if you join the WHYEC yahoo group then you'll find out about all sorts of things going on. I would be really interested in your idea however we are probably moving down south to be nearer my parents by the end of the year (who live just down the road from one of the HEROES sites!!) so I can't really help you. Sorry.

I'm in West Yorkshire. The WYHEC groups has loads of listings for groups/events/meets etc. Its a Yahoo group. Its pretty straightforward.

I hadn't heard of Heroes, but just had a quick look. It looks lovely. I would certainly be interested finding out more about a flexi school thing, 1 or 2 days a week. Where are you thinking of having it? What is the eco friendly high school?

I think it is a really nice idea mummybiz. :)

Like mountaindew we might be interested on a part time basis. Would be be a few years off yet but could be interested in assisting with set up. Smile

It's great that people would be interested - I'm in the middle of doing tons of research in to how to go about setting this up - in the throes of social enterprise v not for profit etc. I really think there is a demand so leave it with me and I'll be back soon to update.
