Colour suggestions for dark hallway (not grey)

Has anyone got any paint colour suggestions for a gloomy hallway? It's currently white and just looks gloomy.
I like heritage/vaguely fashionable colours. Not into grey at all.
Thank you

Well if it's gloomy does it need extra light?

Nothing is going to make it less gloomy I don't think?

What about candle holders that are on the wall? To make it less gloomy?

It has recessed spots which are pretty bright, but it's when they're off (in the day) that it looks gloomy. Also the walls need painting they are definitely battered Smile

If it's dark I think you have to stick to white because anything else will make it more
Gloomier of there is no natural light.

I had a hall like this once and my ex partner painted it a gorgeous grey in the showroom.
Looked like wet cement in our
Hall like it had been plastered and left!

The only other thing I can think of is mirrors to reflect the light

What about a dark floral wallpaper- make a gloomy area into somewhere cosy and stylish?

Thanks everyone. It's already got a mirror so that's sorted. I don't think I could handle wallpaper as it is quite a large area!

We had Dulux timeless in a gloomy hallway, it’s a little warmer than white but still very pale and bright. We have F&B shadow white in our current hallway but that might be too dark.

I agree to just exbracung the darkness with a nice wallpaper or a deep dark colour contrasted by mirrors / candle holders

I'd keep the walls light but go for an emerald on the woodwork

I think get away from white and put some colour in. It seems counterintuitive, but poorly lit white corners look so dark and dingy, whereas coloured corners don't seem to eat the light that's there. I painted my dark landing pale yellow which gives it the illusion of being lit, and the shadowy corners have warmed up. Obviously yellow wouldn't suit everyone's home though!

My Farrow &Ball decorating book definitely agrees with keeping gloomy places gloomy. If it’s a hall it makes all the adjourning rooms look lighter too. What about Stiffkey Blue? I’ve got Hardwick White in our gloomy hallway which I love but may be too grey for you. Setting Plaster is a gorgeous dusky pink without being at all girls bedroom.

Our hallway is pale yellow and we also have a Mirror. It’s quite a nice and cheerful Colour I think.

Definitely agree with going dark! Embrace it rather than trying and failing to make it look bright and airy.

Navy or forest green. You can go bold in a hallway because you're just passing through.

We used Valspar clotted cream in dark front room. It's a yellow based neutral. It's warm and not dingy.

Bright white would be a mistake I think .

We've got the same issue in the hall - it's a big area - and very dark - but it being the first thing you see I'm not sure dark will work.

Basically I'm following with interest.

Ours is Dulux heartwood, have you used the dulux visualiser app? It helped me decide on the colours for most of the rooms in our house
