Ideas for floors

I've a lounge diner in a Victorian mid terrace house. The two areas are partly separated by a shelving unit. The lounge has the original wooden floorboards, the dining room has carpet over ashphelt which I hate.
What can I replace this carpet with?
If I have wooden flooring put down it will look odd joining the lounge. I don't want to floor the lounge too either as I like the fllirbiatds.
Any ideas?

Reclaimed floorboards?

@EmmaStone do you think that this will be easier to match with the lounge boards?
I hadn't thought of that thanks!

You could buy floor planks in the same type of wood, then sand and refinish the entire floor so that it flows better?

I’d be wary of a change in level, a slight change with different floor coverings won’t feel odd, but a change in floor level with matching floor coverings will feel a bit wierd?

@saz12 I hadn't considered that. There is about half an inch height difference. That's a very helpful point!
