Bedroom colour scheme help.

Hi this is my first post and have been lurking on here for a while.

I'm redecorating my bedroom and I'm stuck on colour schemes. Ive last decorated 15 years ago and trying to make my room more grown up. I'm stuck on staying with the same colour scheme and doing something different. My bedroom is the smallest in the house but big enough for a small double bed.

What I have already is :
Dark blue carpet that I'm going to keep.
Dark blue feature wall with silver stars. Cream everywhere else.
Dark blue gloss on skirting and door.

My bed is pine.
Wardrobe is white.
Bedside table is mix of pine and white.
Bookshelf is pine.

I would love some help with these questions:

  1. Feature wall yay or nay?
  2. What colour/s would you think would go with my furniture and carpet?

Sorry if this is a long post. Thanks for reading and any ideas are very welcome. Smile

Dark blue carpet that I'm going to keep. - OK this is what you will have to work around. Can you afford to change??

Dark blue feature wall with silver stars - Get rid of, you must be sick of the sight of it!

Cream everywhere else - this can be painted

Dark blue gloss on skirting and door - very dated. Sand it off and paint white

My bed is pine - Can be painted white
Wardrobe is white - easy to match
Bedside table is mix of pine and white.
Bookshelf is pine - can be painted white

All you need now is a new colour!! There are hundreds. Also look on Instagram!

Thanks for the replies.

I'm keeping the blue carpet as it's in good condition. The furniture is going to stay they same as I like the white and pine look.

Going to paint the skirting and door white.

I'm thinking of of dulux jasmine white for the walls and skirting.

Love mustard but think it will make my bead room look smaller.

I'm really fed up with the blue and stars and will get rid.

What are people's opinions on feature walls in bedrooms.

Or was thinking all dulux jasmine white walls and get some blue decorations for the wall to tie in with the carpet.

Feature walls have had their moment. I don't think the mustard would make your room feel small, the navy might be doing that (I have navy and mustard in my bedroom and love it).

If you like white and pine, and keeping the carpet, what about a warm pink and navy colour scheme? I'm doing my bedroom up ATM and really like the look of that.

Personally I think feature walls are a no no. My bed room is also quite small. It's long and narrow but I've had to put the bed in width ways and it looks even narrower. I think a feature wall would make it look too small. Much better to be all one colour and use curtains, bedding etc for other splashes of colour.

You can't disguise a small room! If it's small it'll be small whether you paint it white or black.

I actually love navy. I'd paint all walls dark dark blue and get a rug to break up the colour. Turn the room into a cocoon.

Perhaps one wall with big banana leaf print wallpaper.

Baby pink ceiling. Not white!

This rug with mustard accent. www.laredoute.co.uk/ppdp/prod-350039225.aspx

Don't be boring and do it all white.

Oooo thank you so much and have loads of ideas now.

Going to go one colour and choose a colour that goes with the blue carpet and get some nice wall decorations. Smile

Pale pink would work well.

I have one very dark navy wall and the rest are light grey. White woodwork and furniture and then yellow accessories to add a splash of colour. I absolutely love it, feels so cosy and lovely. My carpet is dark grey but would work equally well with navy I think
