Hi am looking at velvet sofas , has anyone got one they love and what colour did you choose? I am thinking of either Teal, navy, purple or mustard?

Thoughts gratefully received....

Can I ask where you got it from ? I’m looking for a large comfortable sofa for lounging on and watching tv, I do tend to lie so needs to be at least 2 metres long 😀

Navy. Shows every speck of dust. I wouldn’t get a dark colour again

Also navy and wouldn't get dark again either. Shows up every little piece of fluff or speck of dust. Drives me mad!!

Green for me I think, maybe an olive tone so it’s kind of .... dust coloured

I've got a burgundy one and love it. It also seems to remain strangely clean, even after 2 years of bottom/cat abuse. It's the Harry sofa from Sofa Workshop. I think I had an additional "keep it clean" spray thing...(this may be in my imagination..)

I did wonder if navy would strangely show dirt, I have got a dark tiled floor in my bathroom and it shows up all the specs as well

I don't have one, but have spent many happy hours lusting after a mustard yellow one.

Actually it’s a chaise longue rather than a sofa. I got it from an antique shop and had it reupholstered and new cushions made - it worked out cheaper than buying a sofa from one of the higher end High Street chains, and has way more character.

I’ve got navy and actually love it but we’ve got wooden floors so maybe less fluff and dust?

I have a navy and an orange. Love them both. Mustard sounds great!

swallowsareback have you got them in the same room and would you recommend for comfort? If so where did you get them from?

I’m currently looking at Heals, sofa.com and sofa workshop

No, different rooms, one from
Made.com
And one from maybe Sofa.Sofa was a long time ago so not sure...or DFS. The blue was quite pricey but will last (we hope).

I got a dark grey sofa in Elephant from sofa.com. I really love it and don’t think it shows dust.

Thanks so much for all the replies, I’ve ordered lots of colour swatches.

I sat on a Heals sofa, before lockdown, I think it was the Hampstead, but it’s very expensive, hoping they may have a sale.

Will need 2 sofas and a chair, so a big purchase

My friend has an orange velvet sofa from Made.com. She only bought it last year and it has already faded badly (sunny room) and gone saggy where it’s been sat on. It was gorgeous when it was new; such a shame. It’s put me off buying from them.

Mustard from Next (Wilson Tailored Comfort Small Sofa (2 Seats) - I love it!

Founds lots of cheaper versions at DFS which I liked but wasn't sold on the colours, really glad we splashed out on something a bit pricier to get the right colour.

I have two Cadbury purple ones and love them and have had them a long time. I will recover one in pink and one in yellow, either mustard or chartreuse.

I still love the purple but want a change. I may get a velvet slipcovers made for one so I can still have the purple too. I don't know....

Would not go for navy even though I like them, as in too many shops they look dusty.

I've finally narrowed it down to yellow and pink as I love light green, all blues, mid grey, cream, burgundy, all yellows, all pinks and all purples in velvet sofas. Phew, its hard making a choice.

I'd love a hot pink one!

I have a teal one and I love it! I currently have lime and navy cushions on it. I plan to change the cushions in winter to purple. Teal is a flexible colour and goes with a lot of other colours.
