Outdoor Festoon lighting?

We’d like some tasteful soft glow festoon lighting over our small entertaining area. I’ve had several small sets of solar festoon strings but they don’t last long and tend to fill with water if it rains. I’m happy to pay a bit more for some good quality ones but if we have solar again can anyone recommend good quality ones (I’ve just bought them from Sainsbury’s before).
If we go for mains is there any way they can stay outside but attach a link to plug them into an outside socket when needed? We don’t have a garage etc with an indoor socket but we do have an external electricity socket but not that you could leave the casing up in all weathers.

Actually on closer inspection I can close the socket outside with a plug in
