I’m currently in the process of buying my first house (read: tiny flat) and will be starting from scratch totally furniture wise. While I don’t have all the money in the world, as there’s so little space to fill I can afford to splurge just a bit on a few items - so I’m wondering what people’s favourite interior shops (Preferably online) are, both for large furniture and smaller pieces?

I’m personally into mid century type styles so have mostly been looking on Made.com but I bet I’m missing places!

I've just done up a new place and I used John Lewis and Habitat primarily.

I'd get things that match and if you are buying get something you love.

You can get midcentury pieces on free sites like freecycle and or 2nd in charity shops and auctions often in very good condition.

Brands to look out for are things like ercol, nathan, string, tapley and g-plan, and you will probably get things from the1980s quite easily.

Ikea is great for tide-you-over things - if your flat is up many stairs they will be easier to get upstairs and easy to get rid of (free sites).

Look at sites like houzz and apartment therapy for inspiration.

Cult Furniture
H&M Home
Zara Home
La Redoute (but it's been properly hit and miss with regards to cost/quality)
Dowsing and Reynolds for lovely hardware and lighting
Rockett St John

Will add more when I think of them!

Markparrish.co.uk for mid century stuff
Matalan sometimes has some great stuff
Saramanga Shop has some really cool vintage bits
Mayfly Vintage

Get on Instagram and follow pages who have the same style as you, they all tag where they've bought it from.

I love West Elm and Oliver Bonas.

It's worth looking on Facebook Marketplace too, you can get some total bargains on there.

Also Ebay. A lot of big retailers unload their old stock on resellers and you can pick up last season stuff for a fraction of the price.
