Bay window curtains

I'm in the process of buying a house and it's recently been renovated but that means it's a complete blank slate - no curtain poles in any rooms etc.

It's got a gorgeous bay window - what's the cheapest curtain solution for a bay window to tide us over until we can make decisions on the rest of the decor?

I don't want to invest in really expensive stuff until we've decided on paint etc.

Tell me your cheap bay window curtain poles and cheap curtain solutions to see me through winter and keep the place cosy.

I’ve just been through this dilemma as bought a new build house with bay windows. I went for a bay pole that I found online (will check the company in a moment) and the pole was awesome quality but not extortionate. I also got some extra wide semi sheer linen curtains from LaRedoute in white. I am having grey roller blinds behind for additional privacy when I need. You could do the first until you decide as not the most crippling cost-wise

Someone I know has put a straight curtain pole across the wall at the top of the window so the curtain doesn't go around the window but falls in front leaving a gap behind. It actually looks really nice. Not sure if that's a good description but I hope you know what I mean!

We got a bay pole from dunelm, it was around £60. Looks fine. It’s a pain to put up though!

You can get a very reasonably priced one from Wilko. The other option is a track, doesn't look as nice as a pole but a bit easier to bend. Having said that dh is the one who has always fitted them in our house.

We placed a straight pole outside of the bay and I bought curtains from Hilary McBride on amazon for 99 pound.

We've done the very large (5 sided) bay window in our lounge with curtains and voiles for a total of £175:

  • 2 x Curtain tracks that we've bent by hand - screwfix £12.99
  • JL voile panels (sale), could also use IKEA £25ish
  • curtain fabric (end of line from fabric supplier), lining fabric, header tape and thread £100

We use a curtain track we bend by hand from Dunhelm. Dunelm also do made to measure and ready made curtains at a reasonable price

Thanks everyone. I hadn’t really thought of blinds or if dunelm. I will go check those out.
