Scatter cushions on a contemporary leather sofa.... Yay or nay?

So kitchen /diner /family room is going to be mostly soft white and navy, with pale wooden floor and some wooden accessories to warm the look.
I felt something was missing until I saw some lovely fabric which combines the colours of the units and floor plus teal. I plan to use this to cover the seat of an old but lovely antique chair as a statement piece in the family room. My existing kitchen has teal tiles so I have a few turquoise and teal accessories which would tie the colors together nicely.
Main seating in family room will be 2 small modern leather sofas, most probably navy.

Would a few cushions in this fabric look OK on these leather sofas look OK or are scatter cushions irredeemably old fashioned and middle aged (like me!)

I have a modern leather sofa. I had two large cushions made from the curtain fabric. They are about 24” sq so you couldn’t really call them scatter cushions. I think they suit it better (and are more comfortable to sit against) than several smaller ones.

It sounds like larger cushions would look better. Mine are only about 12" so I'll size up. Thank you

Nay
Sorry OP

Also, by replicating the fabric you would dilute the impact the antique chair should have.

@Branster very valid point I hadn't considered.
Maybe I'll just stick to picking the colours out of the chair fabric and if I go for cushions make them plain

Wait until you get the sofas in place then you can decide.
You may not want cushions at all! The sofas can make a statement in their own right.
Or you could consider a fabric in exactly the same colour as the sofa. As you say they would be 2 and small, modern and leather, So maybe try samples of different textures in the same colour as the sofa (for ex., silky fabrics, soft mohair, alcantara, textured leather etc) and see what you like.

Yes to the cushions it softens it and yes to recovering the old chair, they can look fabulous and it doesn't change the impact at all, well it does, but for the better.

My thought was to keep the fabric for the antique chair and use plain cushions.
I think the replication is a bit dated.

Oh and also, the size of the cushions would be relative to size of sofa to keep the proportions. So 24” might be too large on a smaller size sofa.
When you get them, do a mock-up the best you can with some rolled up towels, cover with navy t-shirts and you’ll get a better idea for size and colours.

How about a blanket in those colours over the back of the sofa instead?

Scatter cushions in colours other than the sofa look incredibly old fashioned OP!!! Why not baby cushions of sofa is navy?

Sort I meant why not navy cushion if sofa is navy??? It’s a pet hate of mine to see sofas with random “splashed of colour” cushions on sofa... so unstylish!
