Do Command picture hanging strips work?

And if you've bought some and they worked, where did you buy them, please? Judging by the reviews, some of the ones on Amazon seem to be fake and unusable.

Yes 9 times out of 10. I have them all over the house for pictures. Wouldn't trust them for mirrors but pictures are fine and the couple that have fallen down have been knocked.

Yup they work brilliantly. Get the proper 3M ones though, no cheap copies, and make sure you buy the right ones for the weight of the picture (it says on the front of the pack). Wilkos and Robert Dyas usually have a good range.

I've even got curtain rails up with them! :) I'd say 98% of the time they work but sometimes the surface isn't quite clean enough or flat enough to take them.

Yes, I've been using them for pictures for over a year and had no problems. A life saver in rented accommodation.

I've always wondered how they work on painted walls.

Nope that’s the whole point of command strips, they don’t damage the surface underneath.

We’ve got the 3M ones. Every time there is a hot day one of the photo frames fall down!

God my house is held together with command strips. I’ve got heavy full length mirrors held up with them

Yes, they're great. As are the self adhesive Velcro strips in hobby craft but they aren't so good at coming off leaving no mark. I've hung enormous (think A0 size) pictures up with them at home and in exhibitions. Make sure you put them on vertically instead of horizontally as they're more likely to fall down or come away if horizontal.

Yep use them for nearly everything!! (Not the £100 clock or the very heavy mirror)

We've had the odd thing fall down but that was my impatience at not wanting to wait the time they said for it to adhere to the wall!!

Always got mine at Asda, Tesco and Homebase x

They work for me but I've only used them with smaller pictures. I found they were cheapest in Wilkinsons.

I always buy these, everything in our house is put up with them, even quite a heavy mirror and coat pegs (buy the right weight/size strips as printed on the packet). We have found they sometimes take the paint off underneath, but only about 10% of the time which is a pain to sand and repaint (never looks 100% again), but so much quicker and easier to start with. Just bear in mind you can't change photos etc without removing the frame and need new strips, they're best for long term frames/objects

We’ve bought a house with a big extension and my DH doesn’t want to hang pictures on the plasterboard. I want pictures up. Would this work on the plasterboard with some quite heavy pictures.

I’m afraid to say they are rubbish. I used ones for 7lbs to hang a A3 lightweight picture frame with Perspex so not even that heavy on clean wall at 6pm and at 11pm fell off taking a chunk out of the wall so no I’d say they are pretty rubbish and very disappointed (broke the frame) bought at wilko so expect them to work - will never use again

We have them all over the house and they have worked brilliantly for us. You have to press them on very firmly and wait at least an hour after applying them to the wall before hanging anything.
