Super king size bed

I crave a super king size bed. However we have quite a small bedroom and it would take up most of the space. OH is a very restless sleeper and it’s exhausting.
How big is your bedroom if you have one and what type of mattress and bed do you have?

I've got a superking with Octaspring mattress. Frame is Victorian type. f your bedroom is small I'd say go for Victorian frame as solid frames take up more space (or at least look like they do). The biggest pain is making the bed, especially if you don't have space to shuffle around it. I also went for very high threadcount linen with the result I can't get all the bedding in the washing machine at once.
Even with the downsides it's fantastic sleeping on a superking. I'd say go for it.

We have a fairly small bedroom (standard 3 bed new build) and just got a super king size. It's literally been the best money we've ever spent. There's not much room in there for anything else but that's all we use it for so it doesn't matter. No regrets!

We got a platform spacesaver frame from get laid beds so it has the smallest possible footprint (if that's the right word)

We have a big bedroom (loft conversion) but if you can squeeze a super king size in to your room, do it! My husband is very restless at night and constantly tossing and turning. I'd often end up in the spare room. Last year we got a super king size with 2 mattress which are zipped together in the middle (I really wanted the 2 mattresses). It's been life changing! I sleep so much better. We can both stretch out as much as we want. Best money we've ever spent.

The bedroom in our old house was quite big, approx 4.5m by 4. We had a super king bed with a big wooden surround. When we moved our new bedroom was small, about 3.5 x 2.5. I couldn’t bear to give up the bed so we bought a divan base. It is tight at one end and we have it against the wall to make more space. To me, the bedroom is for sleeping. I don’t regret it at all so I’d say do it. We’ve just bought a bigger house with a bigger bedroom and I’m looking forward to taking our old wooden base out of storage and hope it’s survived!

sally can you tell me the make of your mattress please?
Encouraged by the replies! It's either going to be separate bedrooms for us or a super kingsize I think. I cannot sleep with OH fidgeting any longer.

Recently got an ottoman bed- bought from eBay though new. Not slept on it yet as still need to put together.. Hopefully will be as life changing as you all say!

Can I ask where do people buy their sheets from with such a large bed?

OP got my mattress from Emma mattresses, if you dont like I'm sure you can return for up to a 100 days

Have a super king from IKEA with separate mattresses, a life saver for us . Easy to change bedding and I can't feel Dh move when he is restless in bed.

Quite a big bedroom so space not an issue but it's honestly the best especially after the cramped double we'd had for far too long. Dark oak frame with the mattresses zipped together as that's the only way we could get them up the stairs Grin.

Bebe : Amazon have sheets to fit but I went a bit more upmarket for my most recent ones which were Dorma from Dawsons/LinensDirect and were around £32 each. Lovely.

DH and I couldn't live without our super king sized bed!

Once you have one, there is no going back to a smaller bed!
When we go on holiday and it's a queen or king size, DH and I feel like sardines in a tin!

Our bedroom is fairly big, but is an L shaped room, so our bed in sort of in a cove (if that makes sense) the headboard is very tall and I have just put two long mirrors either side of the bed, above our bedside tables, to reflect more light into the room. Our bedroom is sort of the hotel chic style, so quite minimalistic. It looks lovely..

Do it!! Sleep is so important..it will change your life 😊

Two 3' beds together might be better if he's a wriggler - that way he can move and your side of the mattress won't dip as he does .

Our room is 12x12ft and we have a superking. We've a 1200 pocket sprung Respa mattress, and the bed is a floating bed style to give the look of more space in the room. Had to move around chest of drawers etc but it's so worth it!

I had a king when OH and I met. When we moved to live with my mum we opted for a superking as it's where we were going to spend most of our time and it fitted into a medium/large room no problem. We now have a similar sized room in our own place.

We're moving soon and the bedrooms are smaller but we're keeping the bed as a priority. Some nights we like to snuggle and other nights we like our own space. When we stay with friends/sleep in hotels a double feels like sharing a single and a king feels like a double to us now. We always sleep terribly.

I really prioritise sleep and would do anything to squeeze our superking into a cupboard if need be!!

I am not sure of the dimensions of our bedroom but we have an oak bed frame for our super king size and it is quite chunky looking. We have an octasprung mattress which is bliss, I'm only tiny but sleep in the most ridiculous of positions and hog the bed, hence the super King.

Maybe if you went for a thinner metal frame it would be less dominating of the room.

We have super king four poster. Don't know how big the bedroom is but there is plenty of space around it and it doesn't look silly.

As somebody else said, two singles pushed together might be better if one or both of you are fidgets.

We have a super king and like a previous poster have a get laid bed frame. Love it, would never revert to a smaller sized bed. Our bedroom is in the loft conversion so it's a weird L shaped room, we have the bed sort of tucked into a corner. The space is pretty much taken up by the bed but we have slim bedside tables either side so it looks balanced. Would definitely recommend getting one,

Ours is 11' x 10'6" ish. Superking well worth it. Had to change door hinge round and not bags of space once chests and wardrobe in situ but it's been a total game changer.

@MoonstoneMagic Yes it's this Pure Magnificence mattress from Benson for Beds. If you want to have to 2 separate mattresses zipped together you have to ask for the zip and link option.

Superking with Hypnos mattress/high thread count bedding from White Company/Dunelm... Also bought Superking Sized pillows as 'normal' sized pillows look 'lost' Ours are 90 x 50 I think (Dunelm sell them) Some Superking bedding ranges DON'T have matching large pillowcases so I sometimes have to shop around a bit to co-ordinate stuff (not such a difficult task though)

Our bedrooms quite wide so we each have a bedside cabinet/bit of space on each side. Would have sacrificed room space for bed space though!!

We have a super king bed and it's a bit of a squeeze to get it into most bedrooms, but worth it. Our mattress is by Swoon and it's wonderful.

Bebe03 Dunelm/White Company do most sheet sizes with extra depth too if needed... they also do Super King sized pillows/pillow cases. 'Normal' sized pillows look a bit lost

I have a superking it's amazing. It's a sealy postopedic mattress but looking to change it to a tempur.
When we have our bedroom extension done I'd like an emperor size bed in our new bigger bedroom but on the John Lewis website they are about £3k and I'm not sure I can justify that! Plus not sure where I would get bedding from. I do love a big bed though. Only hard bit is making it, I struggle to lift the mattress to tuck the sheets under.

Wanted a king size when we newly refurbished it but ended up with a double as it fits the room
