Changing table top on dining room table

We’ve got a table which has a piece of black granite sitting on an oak frame. We are wanting to change the top to a paler colour, does anyone have any bright ideas on how to get a table top only cheaply? The quotes we’ve had for replacement granite are extortionate

Thanks

Contact a granite supplier and ask for an offcut.

Wooden worktop cut to bespoke size from an online worktop place would be cheap, or you could price up safety glass from a local or online glazier, if that appeals, though not sure it would be that cheap. Might be able to get coloured glass eg white from them.

Cheapest of all if you favour a shabby chic look would be to buy recycled or even new scaffold planks, sand and stain or paint them and join together. They are crazy cheap to buy if you are DIYing. There are also lots of online sellers on Etsy/eBay/FB making them up into shelves and tables. I bet one of them would make you table top.

There are companies that put a granite surface onto worktops. I expect they could tackle your table. I think there is one called Granite Tansformations.

Sorry I think that company doesn't do what you want but there are such companys.

If you want to do it cheaply, what about painting the granite a lighter colour. There are paints and spray paints suitable for granite nowadays which can look great.
