Bed frame recommendations

Hi everyone,

We are in the market for a king size bed frame, having been on our mattress on the floor for the past 6 years with babies and toddlers...

We are looking for something sturdy, non-squeaky and that will fit in with older furniture as our furniture is all vintage stuff. Our mattress is heavy, and we aren’t light people (probably 30 stone worth between us with the kids piled in as well)

The kids have ikea Tarva bed frames, and whilst fine for them, I’m not sure the ikea construction is sturdy enough for us?

Budget up to around £900, though spending less would be great.

No upholstery as we have cats that will tear it to shreds in five minutes...

Low foot end if possible as we like to sit on the end of the bed and room isn’t huge.

If anyone can recommend any companies, or bed frames that would be fantastic thank you!

We are midlands based but could travel to showrooms etc to make sure any potential beds are ‘right’ before buying...

Thank you!

I'd maybe just get a divan base with drawers, then get a headboard that fits in with your furniture or an upholstered one to coordinate with your bedding. I've tried frames with slat bases and the mattresses have all become uncomfortable quickly, as the springs aren't supported properly by the slats. X

We have a wrought iron one from the wrought iron and brass bed company. It’s fab, and and very sturdy.

Sorry to hijack your thread, but what do you look for in a divan base? Are they all the same?

Some will be sturdier than others, some have 2 drawers, some have 4 drawers, some none. I don't know if there's much else that needs to be considered, tho x

Yumsy - would you say quality is good of the get laid bed beds please? I like to sleep lower down if given the choice, so when I found get laid beds a couple of years ago I was impressed, but after reading some negatives reviews I discounted them...

The one I bought for my Ds 13 is great quality. It's the low oriental. He is very happy so I have ordered one for his brother 15. They seem quite solid.
