Putting up lampshade pics - is this right?

Just bought new lampshade and put it up...have I done this right? Just that the light bulb lead is wonky now and it's quite a squeeze to thread through...not sure if it's a good idea to pinch the lead?

Sorry basic stuff I know but I'm a kack handed walking safety hazard calamity Jane.
