Going round in circles a bit and being indecisive.

The house is about 12 years old, and has a large feature hallway with big windows and a mezzanine bit. The floor is maple, and that's staying, but everything else is up for grabs.

The window frames are hardwood double glazed, and I'm afraid of painting them as it's very much a 'no going back' scenario. We have one painted window frame the house, in DD's room, and the paint there has already chipped off in places, so I'm worried the original stain (?) doesn't take paint well.

So, teak coloured hardwood frames and maple floor.

I love the style where the woodwork is darker than the walls. Am considering something bold like Downpipe or Railings on the door frames and bannister rail, leaving the doors as oak and having a pale neutral like Strong White or LG Wood Ash on the walls and ceiling.

An other option is to go softer and do everything in something like Wood Ash and paint the spindles something like Borrowed Light.

East facing, loads of light.
