I have painted a cabinet and a cupboard door with this (two different colours). One was a sort of teak and it took three coats, the pine cabinet worked better with two.

Not sure why it would take weeks! Whole point is you don’t need to strip/sand/prime. Could try on inside of a door if you’re not certain

It's very quick to use. I find the Annie Sloan stuff is much better quality though if your budget stretches to it.
