How would you layout this lounge?

I’ve attached a picture of the floor plan off Rightmove from when we bought it but it’s but the best. At the minute it’s lounge diner but we’re redoing the kitchen to make a kitchen diner so we’re left with quite a big lounge 6.5x3.5 (at the smallest) and I’ve no idea how to fill the space, so what furniture would you have and where would you put it?

How would you layout this lounge?

Sorry! I must be dense tonight - what are the doors off the living room - and will they stay the same?
Also - use of the room will very much depend on family set up - what is yours?

Is there a chimney breast/fireplace?
Where do the double doors lead to?

No chimney breast/fireplace, the double doors go into the kitchen they might stay or we might change to Just 1 door. There’s me, DP, DS - 4 and DD - 10 months, we don’t have a separate play room so most of the toys are in the lounge in a massive Ikea kallax unit

What's that little square space, OP?

It’s the understairs cupboard aka the overflowing cupboard of doom

I'd move the doorway so that little bit on the side can be a music/library/storage/whatever corner. And put the desired seating in the main body of the room.

Can it be got rid of and the wall knocked down? It would make the room a much better shape.

Otherwise I'd have the TV in a corner by the window at the top, then sofas at right angles, so that part of the room is squared off. It's hard to see where the dining table could go, looking at that picture - are those doors to the kitchen? The bit by the door to the living room could be the play area, if there's no other space.

HollowTalk I’m not sure what you mean, it’s under the stairs so we can’t knock the wall down because the stairs are there? Or do you mean have it open under the stairs? Surely that would look worse having a slanted wall going up?

So where's the access door to the room?

Also, if you go onto the Ikea website, they've got different tools so you can input your room and stick in furniture trying different sizes and layouts.

Sorry, I misunderstood the picture.
