What is in fashion this year? Grey, navy and copper still? It is it feature wallls or have they had their day? I'm clueless and want to make my house look a bit more trendy even if it's just a few accessories

Thanks

I think copper is already starting to look a bit dated and brass is a better choice.

Any blogs etc I can look at to inspire me?

I have one copper sitting room (paired with navy), and one brass sitting room (paired with mid blue)

They both still look fresh but I've bought two orangier cushions to update the copper (which is very warm and cosy looking) for spring

I think grey is likely to be around for a long time yet - when you consider how long magnolia clung on we must still have about 50 years of it to go...

Re brass and copper, I like to mix the two a bit, it looks good and stops it being too matchy.

And personally I think feature walls are fine (as in one wallpapered wall or painted in a bold colour) as long as you don't call it a feature wall Grin

I'm on a FB group and everyone last year was using grey paint...now they're all changing to navy.

Strong blues and greens, lavender rather than dusky pink and black / oil rubbed bronze taking over from copper I reckon...

OP:

Feature walls have never been a signifier of good taste in interior design.

@GingerKitCat it's called Make a House a Home. To be honest it seems to be hundreds of people all doing the same thing - if one covers their stairs in broken mirror, then they all do. It's rare I find something I like on it.

Thanks magic! I joined a similar one hoping for some inspiration and it's pretty bad Wink
Extremely repetetive, people don't even bother to scroll to look for identical queries/ photos Grin

...everyone's obsessed with grey and mustard and doing odd things to their stairs Grin

Agree with copper on its way out and replaced with gold/brass and I’ve seen a lot of square tiles rather than metro tiles lately. Grey and yellow is being replaced by navy and teal. Feature walls haven’t been in fashion for years. But op I think you should go for what you love rather than what’s on trend, it will last longer as the trends change so quickly. What are your favourite colours/what’s your style?

Artificial plants everywhere! Either dark navy, green, slate industrial, mustard or blush pink and grey.

Navy, blush, emerald green. Sage green taking over as the neutral from grey.
Copper was a flash in the pan. Brass is now where it's at.
Lots of large house plants
Lots of patterned tiles. High end mother of pearl is featuring strongly in luxury bathrooms.

So what can I do with my hallway and stairs?

They are magnolia walls with a cream carpet .. boringville! the walls need repainting so happy to repaint in a diff colour or wallpaper

Also any good blogs or Facebook interior designers I can follow for inspiration

I find Pinterest too hard to search

Thanks!

I would spend some time looking on Houzz. If you go onto Houzz.com, the US site you'll see the trends coming through more clearly. spend some time just browsing the photos (you can filter for hallway) and create an idea book for your hallway. Every time you see a picture you like, save it to your idea book. Then at the end look through the idea book and you'll see patterns emerging which shows you what you really like.

Love grey, navy, blush, white and copper palettes - the copper is subtle though and goes well with the blush - we have this in our kitchen/living area - it's fresh and warm in equal measure. As most of it's neutral it's unlikely to date.
We have dark green, white and gold in our front room - much more striking and opulent.

Go for what you like, ignore the "trends" - too expensive to change to keep on trend anyway.
Any colour palette, however seemingly on trend, will look awful if done badly. Conversely, most will look good if done well!

Look on Amazon at scene wall murals, you can make a whole wall look like its a beach/forest ect, there's even kids ones including where's Wally, I'd buy them myself but they're beyond my budget

@inapickle - I would if it didn't out me!

I used and easily replaceable copper accessories so I wasn't committed to them long term, IYSWIM, e.g. copper lamp (rather than ceiling light), wire basket and occasional ornaments.

We do have copper handles on our kitchen cabinet but these are slimline, similar to the photo attached and not so in your face!
