Small but elegant sofa bed for tiny period cottage?

We need something that can be used as a guest double bed for our spare room, which doubles up as a playroom and part of the living room most of the time (when our panelling partition is open). The smaller the better really.

We can't have a sofa bed with giant comfy arms that take up space we haven't got, so I was wondering if there is something out there that maybe just has, say, skinny woven/wooden armrest thingies?

Whenever I google this all that comes up is single day beds or those beds that have two mattresses on different levels, which is not that great if we have my mum to stay for a week. I want the room to be like a proper guest bedroom when it is in use. Anyone got any ideas?

Do you have a budget? When we were looking for a sofa bed we found ourselves really limited because most of the mattresses are so poor.

Do you need the sofa part of it or have you considered a Murphy bed?

this Sofasofa one’s only 160cm wide

I bought a 2-seater from there recently & I’m very happy with it. Sale on currently too!

They have several sofa beds but most of the images are sideways on so it might help to check out the pages for the ordinary sofas by name to see how they look

(Mattresses all look a bit thin though)

Check out Ikea too

Presumably you could get a mattress topper to counteract the thinnish mattresses?

I saw this in dfs the other day and although dfs are not my favourite it was very compact.

Willow & Hall
I have a lovely one with a proper bed height mattress

I am sleeping in this right now (decamped from our bed due to pregnancy insomnia). It is as comfortable as a normal bed as the mattress is regular thickness

Thanks everyone. I will check these out. I particularly like the futon company one, HerSymphony, and the colours are not bad either.
