Please recommend where to buy engineered wood flooring from at a reasonable price?

We need for the entire house over the forthcoming months (working through each room). Barhrooms & utility will be tiled.

All the usuals B&Q, Wickes etc are coming in around £30m2+

I've loooked at laminate but it's, well, laminate :/

We have underfloor heating throughout & kids/pets so real wood & carpet are not really an option.

Previously used Floors 2 Go who were really cheap, but seems they are no longer trading!

Can anyone recommend please? I'm guessing it will be an online supplier which is fine :)

Sorry I need to edit - that sounded snobby about laminate....there's nothing wrong with laminate, had it in loads of houses

But this house is 'the one' so doing it exactly how we want :)

Ours is from Howdens, our chippy bought it.

Just ordered some from a local supplier. £50 per square metre but absolutely gorgeous.

Sunisshining12 · 19/09/2017 14:11

Never thought of Howdens! What sort of price did it come in at?

I wouldn't mind spending more if I was just doing 1 or 2 rooms but with it being the whole house it's going to be ££

We used ukflooringdirect for our LVT but they also do engineered wood.

10 years ago we paid £2k for 2 rooms that are 15ft X 15ft. I seem to remember it was about £20 a metre and the chippy said it's exactly the same as John Lewis wood which was £99.

You can tell how old I am as I work in feet and meters HmmGrin

We're going local & think they'll do a cash discount, though only one room at a time, a,though I will want the same thoughout too. Ours is £35 a sq m excl underlay & fitting

I've just used Flooring Republic. Went to the Cambridge shop and they were very helpful. Floor looks lovely and they discount quite a lot

Thanks, seems I may be a bit out on what I have budgeted for the flooring then!

Has anyone managed to get engineered wood for under £25m2?

Quite a shock as we usually pay £6m2 for laminate!!

Theres not really much price difference between engineered & solid wood

Solid wood is less stable though.

Sunisshining12 · 19/09/2017 21:30

Can't use solid with ufh anyway

You might be able to get that price bit you're probably looking at a 2/3 mm veneer thickness. When I looked I ordered loads of samples online and compared them. (Some didn't even have the states veneer on them.)
