What size overmantle mirror?

Would you help me choose a mirror please? - width on chimney breast is 150cm, height between top of fireplace and coving is 125cm.

What would look best - almost filling the space with a mirror 115 x 90cm or go for the smaller 80 x 60cm one?

Should I go big and bold or will it be too overpowering?

I'm in a very similar situation and I'm going big. Small overmantle mirrors always feel out of proportion to me. Haven't quite got around to buying it so can't demonstrate sadly.

Also depends on the size of the room! If your room is small the big mirror might feel silly. Of its an average to big room go big!

Room is 4m x 5.5m, 60s house with 8 foot ceilings (can't work that out in metric right now)

Standstilling we have quite a small mirror, simply because the cost of a big one was too much when we moved in. I quite like it though. We also have high ceilings and the mirror has to rest on the mantle rather than hang or I can't see in it!
