White/pale curtains for living room - a bad idea? (Dirt?)

Hi, wondered if anyone had regretted doing this? I thought it might brighten the room and go well looking out on the greenery of the garden, it would not be whispy white or hard white but nice thick lining, quite dense. Thing is, does it just leave dirt marks from handling over time and making it a bore to dry clean? Do you therefore need to wipe your hands first, or have little mittons on the side for when drawing them?

Could you have them on a pulley so no need to touch them at all? And you can just hoover to remove dust. We have off white curtains in the living room, they really do lighten the room and they don't look dirty.

Hi, yeah, that might be an idea though I imagine pulleys work better when it's a flat window rather than an alcove with four narrower curtains to manage.

Ours is also a bay window, there is a pulley on either side of the curtain, the fixture fits the shape of the bay (i.e. two narrow windows on the outside, one wider window on the inside)

You need curtain draw rods. Sold in pairs they're rods with a clip at the top that attaches to the last curtain hook and hangs down just behind the edge of the curtain allowing you to pull the rods rather than the curtains themselves.

Oh yeah lthe... I know what you mean, they often have them at hotels. Much easier than my suggestion!

Mine are white with a bit of truffle colour on so I had them with a truffle band on the edging. Means they don't get gribby pulling them.
