Classy shower curtains (no flamingos)

Humour me. Please.

I moved into a new house. The shower curtain is perfectly serviceable but looks grotty (brown mouldy stains).

I was in a shop and they had a lovely cheerful shower curtain; see-through with flamingos and palm trees and pineapples. I loved it and was almost at the check out when I thought WAIT!! STOP!! NO!!

Because i am always drawn to bright rainbow nonsense. I love it. The gaudier and sparklier the better. But then, at the same time, i so wish i lived in a classy, grown-up house.

So, classy grown-up Mumsnetters, please link to a classy, stylish shower curtain. I'm looking for something that says "hey, i love challenging literature and dry white wine, I appreciate opera and salted sea -food. I know who I am and that's a stylish grown-up and I don't need to express that with a shower curtain".

Any ideas?

Ours have massive strawberries on them and the periodic table and they are very classy.

saladsmoothie · 28/05/2017 08:19

Haha. The strawberries sound ace.

Try h&m, primark or Zara home for plain or geometric designs.

B and q have tons of boring ones. Personally I think it's more classy just to have a fun one and keep the rest of the bathroom minimal and clean and tidy. A shower curtain should be bright and fun. It's the one thing that's easy to change in a bathroom.

Saw one like this at a friend's recently. She has a plain, white waterproof one on the inside. The outer curtain is washable and she can replace the waterproof one easily when she needs to. I'm seriously considering doing the same next time I need a new one.

Dafspunk · 28/05/2017 08:28

Go with the flamingoes, palm trees and pineapples - sounds perfect!!

Anditstartsagain · 28/05/2017 08:29

I buy my shower curtains from b&m they always have lots of different kinds and are cheap enough to change when you fancy it. Ive had a dotty one, a stripy one, one with boats and a NYC one.

Lowdoorinthewal1 · 28/05/2017 08:30

Classy shower curtain is an oxymoron- so just get the gaudiest one you can find and enjoy. Grin

SunshineAndSandyBeaches · 28/05/2017 08:31

Which shop was the flamingo palm tree one?? I MUST have it.

Eminybob · 28/05/2017 08:35

I have a multi coloured rubber ducky one. The rest of the house is reasonably stylish and sensible, I think the bathroom is the room you can have a bit more fun with.

I used to have a clear one with goldfish all over, I loved that shower curtain but haven't been able to find anything similar since.

saladsmoothie · 28/05/2017 08:59

Argh! You're not supposed to encourage me!

I am really not joking... which shop?? Smile

Haint · 28/05/2017 09:21

Anthropologie do beautiful ones. Spendy though

jelliebelly · 28/05/2017 09:31

Shower curtains are not classy full stop so I'd go full on flamingos

saladsmoothie · 28/05/2017 09:33

Sorry Sunshine - It was a $2 store outside UK.

I have a boring plain one.

It works to keep the lovely embroidered squirrel fabric curtain I really wanted dry Grin

Hang both on the same rail, works perfectly well DH nearly fainted at cost of embroidered squirrel fabric, says we we have world's most expensive shower curtain Blush

Hulder · 28/05/2017 09:37

Oooh that flamingo curtain is amazing!!!!

smithin · 28/05/2017 09:38

Which country? I live in the Netherlands and would love a flamingo pineapple palmtree curtain.

Lineyy · 28/05/2017 09:40

I had a map of the world one for years, from Amazon. It helped me no end with Pointless questions. It's pure class to be able to say 'Paramaribo' and have Richard Osman say to you, 'And very well done if you got that at home'.

Etymology23 · 28/05/2017 09:41

I tend to use a boring cheap one that's about a fiver from eg Asda.

Was looking on their website and saw this goldfish one eminybob

Looks like it might even be clear!

smithin · 28/05/2017 09:41

My ex MIL had a plain white cloth curtain which looked stylish. She also had an antique wash bowl in the bathroom. And plants. Who keeps plants in the bathroom? OK you don't forget to water them but you don't really enjoy them a lot because you don't spend a lot of time there.

I've been after a map of the world one for ages.I saw one in B and M so might buy it on my Sunday trip there.
