Why don't home magazines ever have TV's?

Ah I've seen you've found my favourite game 'Where the fuck is the tv meant to go?' I like to play it with magazines and design shows. Apparently when you reach peak interior design you no longer want or need to watch tv. In fact, I don't think you're ever supposed to actually live in the house, just occasionally perch by the kitchen island with a glass of wine.

Because it isnt the ideal lifestyle to sit mindlessly in front of the tv. Could you at least see a few classic novels?

I did think that a tv doesn't set the tone they're looking for. I shall sit at my my island, with wine from my wine fridge, looking at "Good homes" ( my favourite) and also looking out my French door (bifold too expensive), at my gorgeous colourful floral garden. Colourful with children's toys is more like it.

Well, we have some friends whose home has been featured in interiors mags. They have a beautiful open plan living area- island , stools, sofa area, dining area. But they have another side room with a door on it with comfy sofas and a TV. I've been in other homes where they have a ' cinema room ' which is like our normal living room.

I also know a couple of people whose homes have featured in interiors magazines. In both cases, the stylists arrived and moved 70% of their furniture into the garden! One said, "My house looked beautiful - but it wasn't my house". So THAT is how their homes are so tidy...

I thought I was the only person who thought like this ! I yell at the tv when design programmes are on too !!!

Speaking as a designer I can 100% promise - if you ask me for a tv in a room, I will put one in !!!

My living room is nice but not magazine level of stylish - just boring utilitarian IKEA furniture and fairly minimal as we keep things toddler-proof so not a lot of ornaments or furniture etc. But when you walk into the room we don't appear to have a TV. In fact we have a projector fixed to the ceiling above our which projects onto a large white wall opposite the sofa, basically creating a giant 100 inch "screen".

You have to close the curtains if you want to watch TV on a sunny day but other than that, the quality is really good, and I love walking into the room and there's no TV, it does make the room look more stylish not having one. Plus there's no big expensive TV screen for small children to break or get fingerprints all over, it's just the wall!

My grandparents had a living room and then a TV room.

We don't have a TV, I actually enjoy not having one now

We have one 'family room' with a TV and one living room that doesn't have one. I prefer sitting in the one without (because the DC are in the TV room ).

On pinterest no one has curtains.Just the occasional white voile.Really annoying when you are looking for curtain inspiration.

It's the same with kitchens; often you can't even see the kettle, which is the most essential piece of kitchen equipment.

I hate their 'ideas for small bathrooms'. All their bathrooms are at least three times the size of mine and anyone else's that I know. What the hell is their idea of small?!
