Is yellow and grey very passé?

I made my thread title rhymeSmile

So I have bought a new grey sofa and was thinking of a yellow chair? I know grey is felt to be on the way out really but it is so practical! Would the yellow look awful? The footstool has yellow/apricot type tones.

What do you all think? Thank you

I probably shouldn't answer this, as I hat yellow for home decor and furnishings. If I'd a grey sofa I'd go for something more muted that would tone in, maybe a pale blue.

Next has a yellow and grey range- our line is "if Next are doing it, it's passé".

But if you really like it go for it! We've just got a new build and everything is white and grey. We're the ones that have to look and it, and I certainly don't care so much about it being "over" that I'm going to spend my weekends painting architraving.

I had thought about blue but was worried it would clash with the footstool.

I've just bought a yellow chair. From next! Blush

But, while I'm not overly a fan of next style decor, I did love the chair so it doesn't matter. If you like yellow and grey it really doesn't matter. There are new colour trends every year, so unless you change your colour scheme every year it'll be out of date soon enough anyway.

Just choose things you like and don't worry about how fashionable it is. My house is very much on a theme, but I just add in bits and bobs, change cushions etc and then it's not all matchy and styled, it's just a collection of things I like, lots of which happen to be the same colour!

I think the grey and yellow sounds lovely actually!! It's a nice cheery colour and as long as the rest of the room is nice neutral tones with some brighter accents it's not so in-your-face and tacky. I say go for it! x

It has probably reached saturation point but I don't care. My house is full of grey, mustard yellow, burnt orange and olive green - my favourite colours and there's no way I'm giving in to all this blush pink nonsense.

Mustard yellow and grey for me too - I've had it a couple of years in the living room, and have carried the theme through to hall stairs and landing. I love it and still consider it 'on trend'.
