wtf is this?! Do you think they intended for it to turn out like this, or do they just have immense chutzpah? And look at the price!

Ketzele Sun 07-May-17 00:01:09

And this, dear Christ.

Ketzele Sun 07-May-17 00:01:46

I seem to be merrily enjoying myself on my own private thread grin Still, at least no chance of being told IABU.

Ketzele Sun 07-May-17 00:03:46

My eyes.

Scrowy Sun 07-May-17 00:04:20

Oh dear.

If people want to paint their own furniture for their own use that is fine but I'm so sick of seeing decent pieces of furniture having paint badly slapped on them alongside tacky replacement knobs/handles and being sold on every local Facebook selling site and second hand furniture shop going.

Fucking Annie Sloan has a lot to answer for. In years to come people are going to be horrified at the wanton destruction of perfectly good furniture.

LegoCaltrops Sun 07-May-17 00:04:46

My eyes! Bleuch...

bellabelly Sun 07-May-17 00:05:14

Oh. My. Word! It looks like a graffiti artist has been busy with the spray cans...

GraceGrape Sun 07-May-17 00:05:54

That wardrobe is hideous. Why would someone ruin a piece of furniture like that? And why does it say Victorian in the header and 1940s in the details? Perhaps they're just making it up and it's actually from IKEA.

Parrcful Sun 07-May-17 00:06:58

Hahahahaa, what a load of shite! That wardrobe would be fine in a shed 😂

bellabelly Sun 07-May-17 00:07:51

Just seen the mannequin lamp. Hahahaha!!!

JeNeSuisPasVotreMiel Sun 07-May-17 00:10:40

Excellent stuff OP

Ketzele Sun 07-May-17 00:13:00

Well, hello ladies - it's not often we get strangers round these parts!

Scrowy, I agree. Funnily enough I spent the afternoon slapping paint on an old wardrobe - but it was an old Ikea wardrobe, which came with the house several years ago, so I've given it a new lease of life. I love painting furniture, but I don't paint good quality wood, unless it's been painted before.

But I love dark wood, and a 1940s wardrobe is just my sort of thing. Poor wardrobe sad

ExplodedCloud Sun 07-May-17 00:14:13

Holy feck. I could understand the Mini Coffee table for an obsessive but the other two?

SheSaidNoFuckThat Sun 07-May-17 00:15:11

I actually know someone who would love the things with Minis on!!

Worlds gone nuts though, everything is covered with Annie Sloan, fablon or fucking glitter

MonkeyPoozzled76 Sun 07-May-17 00:16:41

Jesus. MIL proudly showed me her Annie Sloan book the other day. She's been routinely butchering random furniture for weeks. I could say anything other than 'I think I like all the before pictures better'. confused

MonkeyPoozzled76 Sun 07-May-17 00:18:25

(I'll have nightmares about the lampshade/mannequin combo)

Ketzele Sun 07-May-17 00:20:14

My kitchen chairs cost me a fiver from a local restaurant and they were hideous - covered with a thick layer of that gloopy red varnish. Annie Sloan was my friend that day - no need to sand, I just painted them then varnished, and they have lasted very well.

What I can't understand is the fondness for painting on layers of different colour, then sanding off the corners. It looks shite. No, it does not make your semi resemble a French chateau confused

MontyPythonsFlyingFuck Sun 07-May-17 00:20:42

That's the sort of thing that makes me believe that eBay is a massive centre of money laundering. I can't believe anyone would pay 43p for that wardrobe, let alone £429!

nancy75 Sun 07-May-17 00:23:48

That wardrobe looks like it has been shat on by a giant pigeon

ExplodedCloud Sun 07-May-17 00:26:08

Haha! That faux Chateau look makes me laugh smile
I have my Granny's bedroom chair that I spray to match my paint job. That's my upcycling.

Scrowy Sun 07-May-17 00:30:58

untalented destruction

Scrowy Sun 07-May-17 00:32:30

My second link weirdly brings to mind the Neighbours opening credits from the late 80s/early 90s

Goldfishjane Sun 07-May-17 00:34:54

Nancy that's what I thought!

Who would buy that?!

Ketzele Sun 07-May-17 00:35:04

Oh Scrowy, that is heartbreaking. Poor little dark wood bureaux - I would give them a home. Do you think Monstrosity 2 is attempting a faux marble effect?

user1494114342 Sun 07-May-17 00:51:12

The cow! I'm crying!! grin grin
