Is Grey paint going to feel gloomy in my bedroom?

I'd decided on Polished Pebble from Dulux but looking at it on the wall it's dawned on me that it is what it is. Grey. The colour of dull. The colour of the sky on a rainy day. You get my drift! Am I overthinking this? It is a north facing room so doesn't get much light. I just want a calm and restful bedroom I can retreat to in a dc crazed house.

What's the alternative warmer colour that isn't cream. Current colour is mocha. I don't mind that but I'm bored with it. Wardrobes will be white. Neutral carpet and curtains. Thanks in advance!

Have you played around on the Dulux website with their Room Painter?

hope this link works

Polished Pebble is quite blue. I have a pale grey north-facing bedroom too and it's quite cold to look at. Although it is restful and calm it's not my choice (rented). I have tried to warm it up using pink/taupe tones for the bedlinen.

Sorry not much help was I.

North-facing grey bedroom here. I love it. It really is a very calm and grown-up room. Not cold, I don't think.

You can always warm it up with some nice accessories/linen etc. I love grey as a base colour.

Thank you all. I'm sure I read Polished pebble would be a good choice for a north facing room. Looks good in those rooms above. Just not sure it's for me

Have you tried Just Walnut by Dulux. It looks like it should be taupe but is a very soft grey on my bedroom walls. I found, like you, shades like Polished Pebble came up very dark. Almost like battleship grey Confused. Nothing like hollin's pics at all!

Here is a pic of my bedroom. It's not a daytime one unfortunately.

I was surprised how light it looks and it is different on each wall due to the light! Almost wish I had gone a bit darker but it's definitely v pale on my walls. Ceiling i have kept white

We painted our bedrooms grey after years of white walls - I can honestly say the rooms feel brighter and so much nicer now! We used Dulux chic shadow

Dulux Grey Steel 3 in the bedroom. So so peaceful. And does not look gloomy but I do have floor to ceiling windows so lot of natural light. If your bedroom is darker go for a lighter shade of grey.

i wanted it to go with this bedding and thought pink would be too much.

We've got Dulux Timeless Classic in Engraved Locket on our bedroom walls and it looks nice and light and crisp.

We have a dove grey (Homebase) which is quite dark but with white furniture & bedding I find it soothing. It does show marks though - lots of toddler fingerprints already!

You could keep the grey and offset it with yellow. It works !

I have Polished Pebble in my north facing bedroom. It's not cold at all, I think it's lovely (obvs!) and we have white woodwork, white furniture, chrome bedstead, lighting and curtain pole. We have mauve curtains and mauve/white bedding.

I took this pic too, sorry it's a bit crap but one wall Dulux white cotton and one polished pebble so you can see the contrast between a white and grey - not that dark

I've got grey steel in my bathroom & that's a warm shade from Dulux. In my south facing bedroom have duck egg by Laura Ashley.
Personally, with north facing rooms, i think you'll find the grey too full/cold/drab. What about a greige like Rum Caramel (Dulux) or looking at the 'warm' shades at the Dulux stand?

We have Valspar Apollo. A pale grey with a slight purple undertone. It's beautiful and fresh against white gloss and furniture.

We have polished pebble in our kitchen. It looks lovely and fresh. It's a very light grey so doesn't seem at all gloomy to me, but it is a south facing room. In a north facing bedroom we have ammonite by F&B which doesn't look at all drab, would recommend both!

Pebble shore is a dulux colour and I love it so much I'm going to put it in my bedroom as well as my lounge Smile

We've just painted our room. Ours is a north facing room but we used a darker grey. I love it! It's so peaceful. Maybe do an accent (sp?) wall?! X

I have polished pebble in our north facing study I love it now but I must admit I didn't like the first coat as it felt too dull and too grey however once we got a second coat on brightened the skirting boards and got things back in the room I really love it. It looks fresh and bright.
We also have a Laura Ashley grey colour in upstairs bedroom which I also love it's a grey/beige shade looks really nice and restful.
