Anyone bought a sofa from Maison du Mond or Made.com? What's the quality like?

I know Made.com has a showroom, but it's tricky for me to get to.

So just that really - they look great online. But they're so cheap I wonder if they'll be as great in real life...?

I've got a made.com sofa. It looked good for a week. Fabric faded really badly, cushions sagged, padding bunched up. It's very cheaply made with cheap materials. Was cheap, but for the price my Ikea sofas have worn much better.

downward - thank you! That's disappointing but I guess you get what you pay for. What a shame!

It's ikea prices, the quality is worse but the design is nicer IMHO. I was looking for a particular colour and size and style and Made.com had one. It's for the family room so it's ok and it gets cats, dogs and kids jumping on it. When I checked on line for Made they had it in stock and arrived within 4-5 working days, otherwise the leadtime is far longer. Made were far FAR FAR FAR more accommodating in fabric samples/enquiries etc that DFS and the likes. DFS actually told me to buy the sofa and then I can check if the fabrics matched. They had no idea if the corner sofa, I wanted could be left side or right. They were frankly useless. Angry Hmm

Im in France and Maison du Monde is very popular with friends over here.

Which sofa are you looking at from there?

We have a maison du monde brown leather corner sofa/bed. I chose it because it doesn't look like a sofa bed.

The quality is good but I had trouble with the payments and they were pretty unhelpful, despite taking a payment twice!

I have a MADE armchair which is lovely, fabric & build quality is fine but have no experience of their sofas. They were very helpful with fabric swatches and delivery.
SOFA experiences are:
We have an IKEA sofa which is remarkably good for the price, lasting well despite being climbed on by children, comfy & has removable covers
a John Lewis Sofa Bed which is good, wearing well (despite having to remove leaked ballpoint pen off it, thanks DH) it wasn't the cheapest though but not as expensive as I thought it was going to be from JL &
we have a wonderful sofa from Multiyork that is 15yrs old and still going strong (I need to wash the covers though when there's a bit more sun!)
We used to have a Furniture Village Sofa that lasted 3mths before the frame snapped (& no we didn't do anything more strenuous than sitting on it), customer service was well and truly awful (the manager said it must have broke because I was too fat 😳, funny as if it can't cope with a 4"11 size 8 woman, who the hell was it made for!), replacement also snapped - it was extraordinary cheap construction, not reflected in the price of the sofa. I've never bought from them again.

Thanks all!

brioche - the small "Adam" two seater from Maisons du Monde.

Or the "Lottie" or the "Tubby" from made.com.

I'm looking for a very small two seater window-seat type sofa. Won't be sat in loads, want good design and small! (But don't want them to look cheap... though I know they are! Wondering if I should just spend more in that case...)

henrys - that's interesting what you say (design being nicer than Ikea but quality being worse)... it's what I wondered but have never seen a made.com piece in real life. Love the designs on the site. And love the prices!

newyearnewbrain - how long did the sofa take to arrive? Bit off putting that the customer service was so bad!

wonky - ooh thanks for those tips! Sounds like you had the best experience with the Ikea ones?

I have a made armchair and sofa both of which are gorgeous after a couple of years. I also have a MdM armchair which is really nice. Not as lovely as made but I bought it as it was cheaper. If I had the cash I would rather have bought made again.

I have a made.com sofa bed I'm very happy with the quality and we've used it a lot. I'm much less happy with the poor customer service I received when they didn't deliver on time though.

mnpeasantry that's helpful! Do you mind me asking which Made sofa model?

What was delivery like for both?

Actually wasn't too long, we were in Switzerland so didn't have far to travel!

Summer, check online. If there's stock, then you might be lucky to have the sofa within days. Otherwise, they give you a lead time 4-6 weeks, take 6 weeks and add another 3 weeks.

We've got the 2 seater tubby in grey from Made in DS's room. It looks good but seriously uncomfortable.... luckily it's not sat on much but I've had to add loads of soft cushions to make him sit on it at all

Avoid Maisons du Monde like the plague! We returned a sofa after only a month because the springs went. They replaced it, but then the same thing happened again. They took almost 2 months to uplift the sofa, and I'm still waiting for my refund a week after uplift. Bad quality and shocking customer service.

We've bought quite a lot over the years from Maisons du Monde (in France) and they have always been v good quality. Have bought several sofas.

Awful awful company. Their delivery service failed no less than 4 times to deliver and ended up costing me 3 days of lost work. When they finally got it right some of the goods were missing including a mirror which when it finally turned up 3 weeks later it was broken.
Dealing with customer services was just as painful - rude, arrogant and completely reticent to right their wrongs. The quality of the goods are below average too.
AVOID BUYING FROM THIS COMPANY.
