Black photo frames on the wall: colour or black and white photos?

I am thinking about a staircase photo gallery, because my walls are terribly bare and boring but I have a tiny budget.

I am tempted to go for black photo frames, but am not sure about the photos to put in them. Do you think colour photos would look ok? I can see plenty of examples with black and white photos, they look lovely, but the pics I am thinking about don't look that great black and white. What do you think?

I'm really not sure about colour photographs. I have a 'photo gallery' staircase with black frames and much prefer black and white images. I have a mix of people, landscapes, buildings etc and it works really well. You might be surprised; individual B&W photos may look like they won't work but when you put them all together it suddenly works.

Thank you, I am not sure either, and I can't find examples to see what that would look like.

I do like black and white photos, it's just that mine were taken as colour. It's easy enough to filter them, but the result is not as good as original ones (if that makes sense). Might work better though.

All my photos were taken as colour and I used Picasa to change them to B&W then had them printed by Photobox. I really don't think you can tell. I used a local photo framer and because I was having so many made at the same time, I was able to negotiate a good discount.

thank you Smile

I think I am off to Ikea to buy a selection of frames then!

I think it looks nice in colour. I took a photo of this in my local Ikea.
