Looking for inspiration for two boy rooms one aged 11 one aged 8. Spent hours on pinterest but everything is either too baby or set in rooms bigger than my whole house! Anyone fancy showing me their rooms (don't worry I can look past mess!)

I'll bump for you as I'm looking for inspiration too for my ds 9

I've been looking at graffiti murals online if that helps at all.

I can't get a decent photo because it's tiny, but my DS age 10 has the Ikea Stuva high sleeper. Walls are F&B strong white. Dark grey plain curtains and grey rug. Two retro DC comics canvasses that I got from homesense on the walls. He really likes it and it looks smart and not too young. In his previous room he had darker grey walls with the Ikea space invaders wall stickers, which he also loved.

The attached picture isn't DS room but based on it. I found lots of inspiration on Pinterest....minecraft colours, so bamboo green walls, bamboo blinds, brown Ikea rug on the floorboards and oak desk for his laptop (he is just turned 12).
His duvet is blue, red, green, white , orange striped but not all over.
The colours are bright but not babyish.

My sister for her two, has grey walls (elephants breath from Fired earth I think) with an American theme.....so Navy, white and red stars duvet. Blue rug and light blue curtains.
All looks cool. They share a room by have their own sides with cool wooden name plaques etc. And it's all very symmetrical.

I'd say go for neutral colours and then accessorise with rugs, curtains, duvet cover, artwork etc that yku can change as they grow.

There were already two nails on the wall in ds' bedroom (we rent) that are huge and plug ugly. Every 6 months or so we get a couple of cheap white canvases that DS paints/collages and we stick them up (he is 5yo mind).

Thank you for your responses I am thinking neutral so it can easily be changed. I love that space window my husband would love this in our room though will investigate that further. Can't decide between single bed with guest bed under, doubles or high sleepers think I'm just going to ask them and let them have what they want!

There were some nice ideas on this page in Ideal Home:
www.idealhome.co.uk/pictures/childrens-room
I am planning my dcs rooms in my head at the moment - it's taking me a while to put together ideas, nothing complicated, but I think if you think about what they like and work out from there that helps (eg my DD says she likes yellow but she's 6 so she would probably think yellow walls, yellow curtains, yellow bed covers. But I'm hoping I can take yellow as a start point and have pale yellow walls, then some accent colours, I'm looking at Moroccan style round mirrors with rainbow edges, a rainbow my little pony print, a Mine craft ocelot cushion (yellow) and I was going to do the wall above her desk with a collection of pictures in coloured frames, but silly photos of her and her brothers, a picture of stampy cat, photocopied illustrations from books she likes or even little poems. Then a bigger print on one wall and I might also do a quilt cover for her with yellow in it.)

But I'm taking my time planning it so I get it right ie so she likes it but wouldn't have been able to think of it herself.

I don't have a room to show you at the moment, but we're planning DS's bedroom in a new house soon. Going for the stuva ikea high bed and already have some of bookcases/drawers in same range. Planning pale grey walls with navy accessories and the odd pop of orange for colour (doors on the cupboards etc.). Planning some framed prints on the walls so easy to change.
