Why are bathroom floor tiles so boring?

You can get all sorts of funky colours for tiling walls, but so far all the floor tiles I've seen have been grey, beige, greige, white or black. Our bathroom is tiny so mainly going to be white (walls, sanitary ware, vanity) to make it look less cramped but I really fancied a bright coloured floor to contrast and make it more interesting. So far I've found loads of brightly coloured vinyl/lino which we are not so keen on, but only endless variations on neutral if we want floor tiles. I know I can get bright coloured towels but it's not quite the same.

If anyone has seen any bright coloured tiles for floors please share!

Not so much brightly coloured, but cool patterns and a bit of "texture" :)

Could you not make a pattern with some fancy floor tiles?

Or tile paint?

I was looking at Topps earlier Purplebird but although the patterned tiles are pretty, I really want colour (a bright colour) not grey or beige.

There seem to be loads on Pinterest but none in actual UK shops/websites that you can buy!

Can you not just use wall tiles on floors? (Sorry if that's a stupid suggestion!)

I don't know Fritzy. I assume there must be a difference (?floor tiles thicker/more hard wearing maybe?)

You can use floor tiles on walls but you can't use wall tiles on the floor, they're not durable enough.

Have you checked out Harvey Maria ? I love the Neisha Crossland range but they have lots of lovely colours.

red & blue

Or you could go vinyl/rubber tiles. Endless pattern/colour choices there.

There's a Swedish company called Marrakech Design that does gorgeous patterned floor tiles.

We have blue and white Moroccan patterned tiles, which are gorgeous (we actually shipped them home from abroad, but I've seen similar online here), but I do agree that the beige/greige/grey/black look is dull and predominant.

As I said in my op, I don't want vinyl (I agree the Harvey Maria stuff is lovely, as vinyl goes, but our experience us that it eventually shrinks or stretches or rides up and never looks entirely clean.) The range of patterns and colours is vastly better than for ceramic/porcelain though.

I was looking for square tiles in a modern bright colour, either a solid or simple graphic (eg stripe) rather than the vintagey/Moroccan look - it's a very small room with modern sanitary ware - but I can see blue Moroccan tiles might work or the hexagonal blue tiles. It's either that or go for vinyl tiles instead of sheets of vinyl.

Thanks all for the links and suggestions.

Olivia where are your blue honeycomb tiles from? I am looking for navy ones but only seem to be able to fine black, white and grey.

I was going to suggest Harvey Maria too! That's what we are using as it is warmer than tiles. Have you actually seen a sample tile? I don't think there is any way it is going to shrink/stretch etc. It is similar to Karndean which we have elsewhere and is totally solid and pristine.

Try British ceramic tile. I have some purple floor files and also some that look like water.
