Does anyone know of an equivilant colour to either f+b strong white or ammonite but cheaper??

Love these colours and want a very pale grey but DH thinks it is ridiculous to spend so much on paint!

Also what colour carpet would you choose to go with pale grey walls?

Could you get it colour matched by Valspar maybe? I wouldn't pay F&B prices either tbh.

Colour matching F&B paints doesn't work because of their pigments, so if you colour match it in store when you get home and paint it then you'll end up with a paint that doesn't match.

If you're looking for nice pains that are a similar sort of colour then Little Greene do some nice ones, one of theirs called Flint is quite similar to Ammonite:

Crown Gallery White?
It's not mega cheap though, and lots of places don't stock the indulgence range.
The coverage is pretty good though (I had to paint over varnish and gloss on one wall )

I always find this issue interesting. My DH was against F&B 'because it is way more expensive' until he saw it on and now understands why it's worth it but it's only £10-15 per tin more than the normal priced dulux he wanted. We needed two tins so that's max £30 more for something we look at every day for probably 10-15 yrs! I know £30 is a lot of money to many people but it's not like the difference if a £400 sofa and a £1500 sofa.

Sorry to suggest spending your money but can you not justify the cost of going with F&B if you really appreciate the difference in look and quality?

Look at the Dulux Hertitage paint range. Lovely colour palette and there's probably an equivalent of must F&B colours there.

Anyone have any ideas on the carpet question? I was thinking a minky/greyish/ beigeish colour but can't seem to find the right thing anywhere!

If you're going with a grey tone on the walls then a beige type carpet wouldn't look quite right because it could look too warm and then make your walls look cold in comparison.

Have you considered wooden flooring? A really dark wood would look lovely against walls in those colours and you can get some really nice (and not too fake looking ones) that slot in and are easy to lay! Then you could get a big cream or light grey rug for the floor as well - nice mix of textures!

I was a die hard F&b user
Then I found Johnstones trade decorating centers and now I feel a bit silly

I've colour matched F&b, Sanderson and paper & paint library and painted them next to samples of the genuine article and there is no difference. None whatsoever. Get yourself to your nearest Johnstones
