Desk/workstation for teen - small space!

Can anyone recommend a desk/workstation for a teen, ideally with shelves above. Needs to fit in a 90cm alcove though.

Am I asking the impossible?

Would it not maybe be easier to build it into the alcove. I did this in our last house. Worked well

I think you might be Grin

You'll find a 90cm desk but getting some wall shelves fitted above would probably be the easiest solution

Get a carpenter?

Thanks! Yes it's looking like a wall-fitted job. Although I did like the look of this

Any thoughts?

Honestly I think you build nicer and probably cost less

I was going to suggest exactly that desk curtains. I'm thinking of getting it for DS (still only 8 though).

That seems very expensive for a few bits of polished wood (even if it is M&S polished wood Grin)

Have a look at the IKEA Alex/Linnmon desk set-up. The drawers are 36cm wide & really practical; the smallest desktop is 100cm but could be carefully trimmed to fit. (The drawers have little rubbery dots on top to stop the desktop moving, & it has legs screwed into the other end, but could also sit on a wall batten instead)

Then you could either have battened shelves in the alcove above, or use adjustable shelf supports to give more flexibility later.
