I can't decide if I like it or not Confused
I'm put off by this weird picture where it looks like the TV is in too big a space and there should be another line of cabinets above it.

Has anyone got the IKEA Besta range?

We used to have it in the last flat. Hated it. I had to dust all the time and that blank space drove me mad.

Thanks! Do you think a shelf or another line of cabinets might fit or be better?

I'm planning on plain white doors on all the cabinets to cut down on dusting. I've nothing but open shelves in this house and I hate it.

I was warned off it, as apparently putting it together is absolutely hellish. Worse by far than your average flat-pack experience. In fact I was even shown online memes about how awful it is...

I'm actually not going to put it together. If I get it I'm putting it in 3 rooms and a corridor. There will be about 60 cabinets - I'm going to get one of those flat pack guys to do it.

Can either of you recommend a better cupboard, I'm not keen on the other IKEA one lektorp? I was thinking about configuring either kitchen or wardrobe cupboards instead.

I have Besta shelving although not in that combination, mine is a wall of shelving. I found it really easy to put together! It feels quite sturdy (much sturdier than the Billy bookcases I had previously) and the adjustable feet are really good as our floors are not level. The doors are soft closing too.
There is a Besta online planning tool on the IKEA website so you can try out different combinations, with / without doors, adding storage boxes etc and it tells you how much it all costs and adds it all to your shopping trolley!
I got doors for some of shelves and I also got Kuggen storage boxes which fit really nicely.

We've got it a bit like this Lots of ideas if you search under 'Besta hack'. I like it but wouldn't have a big wall of it like that Ikea image.

We've got some in the play room. It was not remotely difficult to put together. I don't especially like that combination though... I agree with PPs suggesting looking at IKEA hacks to get a better layout or combine it with other units. BESTA is better made to last than some of the other IKEA ranges.

I've got some in my bedroom and some in my study. It was a piece of piss to put together. It's a good size to keep my crap in but I don't like the big square around the tv look either.
