Good place for sofa's

I'm looking for a couple of nice (fabric) sofas for my sitting room, ideally I'd like to spend no more than £3k for both. Where's good for sofa's apart from Jon Lewis and M&s and dfs?

It's hit and miss, but there's a website called Trade Secret that buys cancelled orders, etc and they had some Multiyork bargains on there. It would be a case of them having something you liked, you can't get made to order from them.

I used to work for a high street sofa retailer and if possible would try to avoid DFS, SCS, CSL etc as they aren't great quality and customer services are very hit and miss if something goes wrong.

Look at Sofa Workshop (part of the DFS group but completely different ethos). I am currently sitting on an 8 year old sofa from there and it's still in great condition and I ordered two new ones from them last weekend for a different room. They manufacture themselves, using quality materials and the frames now have a 25 year guarantee. There are also hundreds of fabrics / leathers to choose from. There was a 20% off sale on last weekend, don't know if that's still on.

I got a lovely looking sofa from SCS but the quality was terrible - fabric gave way on most of the cushions on the seams. They stitched it up once but that was it and it went again v soon after. Material 'went' about 1 year after purchase, with light use by 2 adults!

We have sofas from sofa sofa.com and they've lasted about 10 years. They are online though so you can't try before you buy.

Dwell have sofas like that but appreciate they are expensive! Do you want 2 like thay under £3k? Our old one was from here and was amazing!

We have new sofas from barker and stonehouse which very happy with and a sofa bed from dfs because we loved it and couldn't get similar elsewhere. Been impressed with both!

Some of the small independent sofa makers are good but do not have a lot of choice. We had two sofas from Oak ridge direct that lasted years. Look in th back of magazines like Good Housekeeping.

Ours are 12 years old and still going strong from Laura Ashley.

We got ours from Harvey's last year and have been very impressed with the quality. PIL have a 3 piece suite from there too which they've had for 15 years+. Our last sofa was from DFS and the quality was rubbish, we had to replace it after a couple of years.

We recently bought a new sofa and did a lot of testing of the available ones on the high street.
We found Furniture village had great selection and great quality.

We ended up buying a Parker Knoll sofa from them.

We had our last sofa from Harvey's. It lasted over 12 years before we sold it on. Structure was still basically fine, but leather had scratched, and one seat had started to sag.

Replaced with another Harvey's sofa in the summer. Again, it has been great. No delivery problems and quality seems good.

Parents also have a Harvey's sofa too. Still looks like new after a couple of years.

I've bought two sofas in the past week from different shops and am happy with both - one from Loaf (their speedy sofa section has great bargains added daily and they're available immediately) - and the other from Sofa.com's equivalent which is on eBay and is called sofadotcomwarehouseclearence (I know it's spelled wrong, but it's completely genuine - the delivery van was Sofa.com and the customer service number was the same). The sofa.com one is ex-display but has no defects of any kind and it was 70% off!

With that budget I'd be looking sofa.com, Multiyork, Sofas and Stuff, perhaps Loaf. They are way more high end than DFS or similar. You'll get a choice of fillings and hundreds of fabrics to choose from too.

Glad this thread has been resurrected as we are looking for a new sofa. We bought ours from Harveys about 3 years ago and it is crap to be honest. Cushion started splitting about 7 months after we got it, and there is awful bobbling on the seats. And a button has come off. Customer services said it was normal wear and tear.

There are only 2 of us, no DCs or pets, and we are both out at work all day so it's only evening and weekend use.

I commented on another thread about the DFS Zinc that that might be an option, but will explore some of the other stores mentioned on this thread as well Smile
