Woodstove as replacement for radiators?

I tried searching the internet for advice on a quandary but as usual I'm getting a different question answered no matter how I phrase it.

For the past few weeks I've found this forum useful for helping me make decisions on how we should decorate our new house, so I'm back to ask a question of my own...

We want to install a woodstove into the chimney of this Victorian cottage/house. We want to knock right through the back of the fireplace so the woodstove heats the rooms on both sides of the chimney (a back to back stove). The house already has radiators and an oil fired boiler but there are unsightly radiator pipes running all over the place. One of the radiators needs to be moved to allow the new kitchen to be fitted, so I was wondering if I even needed them in these 2 rooms what with the woodstove there?

Note I'm not asking if I can heat the radiators from the woodstove (this is what google thinks I'm asking). I'm just wondering if you guys think I need them in the same rooms as the woodstove?

Thanks for your opinions.

It depends on whether you will want to keep the fire going all the time - take it from people that have a biomass boiler it can be a bit of a bind! Also do you have easy/cheap access to fuel?

If you are dedicated to keeping your wood burner alight then no you won't need radiators in the same room. However I would use it for a while first to see if it is something you want long term before you remove the existing heating system.

It really depends on how often you will light your stove. We have one downstairs and one upstairs and rarely use radiators (never in the rooms with fires). But we have truck loads of fire wood every yr and have time to prepare it ( and skills and tools), space to store, and time to bring it in so this is feasible. You need to.consider this in your plans as wood needs to be seasoned before you use it for a yr so.you need space for that.

I wouldn't have thought you would need a radiator in the same room as your wood burner if the wood burner is alight. However, wood burners can kick out a hell of a lot of heat! There may be days when it's a bit chilly but not enough to warrant lighting the stove. Then you might wish you had a radiator.

We only have a wood burner . I would not do it, unlike heating when you wake in morning house is cold. You have to light fire. It's annoying.

Plus wood is much more expensive unless you buy cheap wood, but cheap wood burns quickly.

We get 4 cubic meters of seasoned hardwood at £300. This lasts us around 3 to 4 months in winter with burner running day and night.

jelliedeels you could try putting bricks on top and if space inside your burner to help hold the heat until morning. We have some stones (as its really hard to get bricks here) in our that seems to make things a bit better for cold mornings.

Woodburner is prob too hot in the summer. Though I know you can keep it low but not that easy to keep it low and not going out,
