We really need to lighten up this table, what would be the best way to do this please? I'm thinking dulux made by me paint in light grey or cream... But I've never painted a solid wood table before. Help!

Sand it back as best you can, prime, then paint.

Or you could get a paint that has a built-in primer, like Valspar, then you don't need to do any of the sanding or priming Wink

Hi I would lightly sand back then use a primer & combined undercoat & top coat with a water based eggshell, I have found the eggshell by mylands the most hard wearing, goes on like a dream much better imo than f&b, if you want the shabby chic look could try Annie Sloan or rustoleom chalk paint, you don't need to sand/undercoat with those, but can be tricky to apply & you have to wax once painted otherwise that really chip.
