Kitchen or Utility?

I have an open plan kitchen/living and thinking about putting dishwasher in the utility to avoid the noise. Is this a daft idea, should it be in the kitchen? Has anybody else done this? Stupid question I know but .....

My dishwasher is next to the sink, so I can empty say water from a glass into the sink and put it straight into the dishwasher. The sink, dishwasher and bin are in a triangle of access.

You also need to think about the emptying aspect, ie how far would you have to carry the clean stuff to put it away? Would this bother you?

We put our dishwasher on as we go to bed, so there is no noise whilst we are downstairs and we don't even have an open plan kitchen.

It would drive me nuts taking plates and pans backwards and forwards from the kitchen to the utility room. Agree that you need it near the sink and the drawers/cupboards where you keep your plates/pans/cutlery.

I have open plan kitchen and living room. There is no way I would put dishwasher in the utility room. All that carrying backwards and forwards would drive me nuts.

Go for a quiet dishwasher. I've got a Bosch Classix which is barely noticeable in terms of noise.

I've designed a couple of dish pantries recently - like a food pantry but for dish storage - one with a dishwasher and sink in too - for the exact reason you mentioned - rest of kitchen and ground floor was open plan ! Might be worth considering too - also allows you to dump all the dirty dishes in one place when having guests for dinner etc

We have a neff dishwasher and its whisper quite, occasional gurgle from the waste pipe but other than that it's quiet. We have a kitchen diner family room.

We have a Beko dishwasher in our open plan kitchen and it's so quiet you don't know it's on, we have to check the display before we open it every time. It's by the sink so that you can put dirty stuff straight in. I think putting it in another room would get really annoying very quickly.
