Console table challenge!

Is anyone up for a challenge? I'm looking for a console table for my hallway - I'm quite open to different styles but despite having a beautiful, big, airy hallway, an odd layout means that there is only one place for it to go and it can be no wider than 86cm and no deeper than 29cm.

I am stuck!! I cannot find anything that would fit.

I think I would like a table, preferably with drawer(s), but I'm open to other ideas - a slim bookshelf maybe??

Can anyone help? I will be forever indebted (as will my eyesight having stared at my iPhone for about 3 hours this evening)

Have you tried ebay for old stuff. Victorian etc is often a lot smaller than anything new.

Have scrolled through thousands (possibly an exaggeration) on eBay and I haven't found anything suitable. Well, I did find a potential alternative - a rustic shelf built over your radiator...but it's not quite what I'm after. Thanks for replying though. I will keep an eye out for Victorian pieces if they're smaller.

I found one on the first page. It wasn't pretty, but it would have fitted!

Have you anywhere near you that builds to measure? We have a place that does that is often cheaper than manufactured prices - we bought a made to measure dresser for less than £300. Look for pine shops. (You can stain or paint if you need to.)

Something like a folding Victorian table might fit too.

Oh, the old oak one? Yes...it would fit, but it's ugly! I'm open to different styles, but not ugliness! Very shallow, I know.

I've been quoted £750 for a bespoke one. I've put a message on my local Facebook group asking for recommendations of other local companies that may be able to help. Hopefully for less money though!

Try Etsy. We saw a place that made various wooden tables, they were willing to do one to order. It was called red cottage furniture. We didn't go with that option. It their stuff looked nice and was very reasonable. I'm sure there will be other sellers.

Some ideas.

Crescent shaped console tables tend to come up small and so within your measurements Example Sometimes they list as half moon, or luna shape.

Don't know if This radiator 'table' is different from what you've already seen?

Something like this could perhaps be sprayed a different colour to suit, if it appealed at all that is.

A bookcase might be easier to source This is only 0.6cm too deep.

What I've also seen done is junk shop finds that come really cheap, cut in half by a carpenter, so they're only half or three quarters of the original depth. They're then positioned in front of a sheet of mirror and fixed to the wall via a batten. When it's done, the table looks twice the size it really is.
Depends if you want to get creative really.

It's a bit hard to know if you're on the right track though without an idea of style or budget.

Something a bit different you could arrange a couple or more of those shelves perhaps with a shelf below, or something like a letter rack and clock

29 is our absolute limit, yes. V weird stepped doorway that means we couldn't edge out at all.

I love the idea of the mirror making a table look twice the depth. Maybe I will investigate some junk shops this week.

Not as keen on the shelving idea, but I had stumbled on the idea of a bookshelf myself earlier and have seen a beautiful French grey one with oak top.

Ooh, justaweeone! I like that. DH is not so keen as we've just got rid of a lot of dark wood (door frames, porch door, banister and window sills) but I think we're now light and airy enough to pull that off. Hmmmm, thank you.

You could always paint it
Or just paint the legs
