Medieval upholstery fabric?

I'm planning to reupholster my favourite arts and crafts chair. I'm always drawn to William Morris as I love the period and his patterns but I have tons of WM print throughout the house and feel like I ought to branch out. Any suggestions for heavy prints in a kind of medieval/arts and crafts style which might work with my slightly gothic chair?

A Liberty furnishing fabric? this would look fabulous on a dark wood arts and crafts chair.

Depends how much fabric you need...Lewis and Wood have some great velvets and brocades that might fit the bill but they are expensive. I borrowed a large sample of this in the Persian colourway which is really lovely.

Are you looking for something dramatic and patterned or would something more subtle like a textured velvet or abstract print work?

Oh wow I loooooove that Lewis and Wood one but £180 is probably nearer to my total planned spend! I reckon I could get away with upholstering the seat and back in something dramatic and patterned and the arms and back in a plain velvet if I could match them up. So probably only 3 metres or so of the dramatic one.

Thanks so much, both really great ideas and food for thought, you have great taste!

Not really medieval, but William Morris made me think Vintage Sanderson. I really like squirrel & Dove: www.janeclayton.co.uk/product/squirreldoveembroidery/34597

If you already have lots of WM prints in the house, would not a plain bright velvet, as in one of the images in the previous link, look good?

cheese love vintage Sanderson and that one is lovely but maybe a bit too modern for me. Snakes head is fab and I'm so tempted to go back to WM! Shotgun agree bright velvet may be the way forward. I'm just obsessed with pattern and love stockpiling more! Gatekeeper I've never used Ali Express before, is it straightforward? Love that Cowtan print, so much so that I already have a Schumacher one almost identical elsewhere in the house! patiolane.com/schumacher-la-menagerie-cream-172760.html

Hmmmmm, cheese I've gone back to squirrel and dove and realised it's just the red colourway I don't like. I actually love the others! Hmmmmm, now to work out how to make the most of a few metres!
