Chesterfield sofas-worth the money?

This is a hideously dull and middle aged post. Apologies. We are looking at leather suites and love Chesterfields but you do pay a premium for them. Am I paying for a name and nothing else or are they worth it?

Stories of drunken shenenigans to divert attention from the fact I appear to have become very dull are also welcome.

I bought my (non-Chesterfield) sofa direct from the factory in my town and an amazing bright red leather Chesterfield was given pride of place in the showroom.

I sighed longingly at it and said: "Ooh, I'd love one of those!". The factory owner shrugged and answered: "They're really uncomfortable as a home sofa. We sell most of ours for use in hotel entrance halls."

I took his word for it.

I've tried to take a panoramic picture and I'm not best at taking pics but here it is.

These are the matching high back chairs. So very comfortable and easy to clean.

My parents have had theirs since they got married 40 years ago and it still looks great

We have a set at home too and over time they just look better and they're easy to clean, we brought ours from decur.co.uk just because the John Lewis one was out of our budget

How do you plump up the cushions?

Id say no. Sorry to buck the trend. I find them too low at the back to be comfy.

Yes, they're worth it. Ours has the tufting on the seat too so it tends to get popcorn and cracker crumbs that I have to vacuum up and then take a cloth and cleaner to. Otherwise we love it. It is not as conducive to snuggling into but we still are quite comfortable piling into it and watching movies.

I bought a beautiful hand made one from Old Boot company I think it was called. I got the sofa bed one which is amazing! Very very good bed but you would never ever realise it's a sofa bed.

I have one. I love its looks but comfy? No.

I used to have a matching chair (sadly no more) and I practically lived in it.
