Looking at decorating my 4 year olds room. Oh is wanting to do it properly with solid wood units, (wardrobe, bed, bookcase, shelving) i am leaning more towards the more plasticky halfand half wood units, like the ikea stuff. For the simple reason its cheaper and in my opinion will be easier to clean and look after.
Im concerned buying pure wood will easily dent chip scratch etc when my so rides toys into it etc like kids do.
We are going for white too so painted white wooden units are surely going to be harder to maintain!?
Or am i being silly!?
If you could afford the solid white wood units would you opt for them over the cheaper types!?!

I'd say if going for real wood, don't go for paint. If going for white, don't go for wood, go for cheaper stuff that you won't mind replacing later, which would be a good idea, as you'd likely do a revamp for teenage years. The pine bedroom set we got for our dd about 18 years ago is still going strong, although I did have to sand down and revarnish the dressing table top. The varnished (and revarnished again) 1940s solid wood tallboy we had in ds room has just gone to ds house. The white finished stuff we chucked out.
