Why do you feel it needs changing?

So the corner sofa stops you from using the door at the front?

I'd have a sofa that fits along the wall where the long side of your current sofa is, but doesn't block the door and a small sofa/armchair at right angles to the dining table to separate the areas and define the space. Perhaps another armchair at right angles to the TV between the telly and the door.

You could even turn the corner sofa round to fill the corner of the room with its back at right angles to the dining table and a walkway through by the fireplace depending on how long the longest side is.

Does any of that help?

Yes it currently blocks door which I don't really like. The sofa is modular so can move the size per side around.
My idea was swap sofa and tv round but I won't be facing the fire then.
We are redoing the room so a change of layout would be nice
I quite like the idea of a walkway will have a look at that tonight

I would personally not want to have an armchair in front of the fire with its back to the dining table as it would block your view of the fire.

If you want to free up the door, you'll need to move the corner sofa (obviously) so the short back has its back to the kitchen/dining area. Not sure how that would be. You'd be side-on to the fireplace, so not ideal.

Having an armchair between the TV and the door might work. If this is too large, maybe consider a large beenbag there.

How many people live in your house? If it's only one or two of you, a double sofa with a single armchair may suffice. If it's more, the corner sofa is probably the way to go.

Sadly it's 6 people hence the huge sofa
I will these options over. Thank you I had mind block

Sadly?!!! That's great!

I'd definitely consider beanbags. You can get giant leather ones in places like Dunelm which are great fun and very comfortable. You can get two kids on them at once (if they get on well!) and they won't block your view of the fireplace so much.

Your current arrangement of the L-shaped sofa may even turn out to be the best as you'll lose a lot of floor space by opening up the doorway.

Sadly cos I'd love a smaller sofa

Have you considered relocating the door? By moving it up towards the kitchen and by having a modular sofa you can create access and still have a L shaped sofa (I like this style btw). I can't see it costing more then a couple hundred pounds (if you use the same door and architrave)....
