What shade of wood flooring have you got?

Are you happy with your choice.

Is oak going to look dated soon? It seems a safe choice and could add a bit of warmth.

I don't think dark wood will work in my house as it's dark enough anyway.

Could choose a pale greyish colour?

Don't choose dark wood it always looks dirty. I have maple floors, love it. I'd be wary of trendy colors for flooring. Classic shades will look getter much longuer and seem easier to maintain.

Grey engineered oak, perfect.

I think I have narrowed it down to these two.

My house is a 1930's semi, quite dark and the rooms I'm putting the flooring in are north facing.

We have walnut parquet and stained oak ("antique") - so relatively dark. I love it. We have palish walls - off white, yellow and palish wallpaper - it looked loads better with a darker floor ( we were originally going for natural oak.)
AND - our floors don't look dirty (the very idea) - although a quick rub with a baby wipe suggests they aren't actually that clean.

Mine is similar to the bathroom photo.
It's oiled and saw marked.

It doesn't look dirty at all, and I don't really spend my days cleaning it.

Maple looks lovely Qwebec - is yours a warm colour?

Ottilia, I have been given a sample of about 20 samples to choose from, so many of them are grey I wonder if I'm a bit dated looking at the oak coloured ones. I love grey and a lot of my walls are grey. Don't know if a lighter floor would compliment them or make it seem too grey.

I think grey will in the future as it's the 'in' colour atm.

It's a warm grey, the floor man mixed different lots and it looks really good. He fancies himself a bit of a floor artist.

I didn't want anything light, I had enough of maple, or anything orange also nothing too shiny to anything that would scuff easily.

Not sure it would work with grey walls though. Mine are white because I find it best for art.

yes it is warm, I don't even think it is stained just varnished. It's something like this

The dark wood floors I've encountered show every speck of dust. What color is yours?

I like the first picture a lot, but I think the second one will look better with grey walls.
