What colours can I put with dark blue and brown? (the blue and brown aren't together!)

I'm desperate to update our bedroom, which has chocolate brown coloured curtains (can't afford to change).

Our living room has dark blue sofas whichever can't change but really want to add cushions to bring up to date.

What colours would you suggest? I can't get inspiration anywhere as the neither brown nor dark blue seems very in right now.

What colour are your walls in the bedroom and living room?

Both are neutral at the moment-I forget what kind of farrow and ball "white" but it is a stone colour and its a cream in the bedroom-gardenia I think it's called. Beige carpet in bedroom and oak floor in living room - cherry wood fireplace but that might be a red herring.

Watching as we've got dark blue sofas coming Saturday and I've no idea how I should decorate the living room.

It's not the easiest. But funnily, after 13 years with these blue sofas I still like them. I'd get new ones if I could, but if I could find cushions to spice them up a bit I would. Dark blue is great. Guess what colour cushions I have at the mo? (I'm so imaginative!) Light blue and beige
