Help me identify this mystery flooring!

Underneath the carpet in our flat is some solid brown tile: not lino; it's thick and solid. I'm guessing it's original; the building is from 1950s. I've googled and come up with vinyl, even though I thought vinyl was something shiny and flexible, like a bathroom floor.

I also read that it might have asbestos in it!

I was thinking of maybe trying to get someone to restore it, instead of paying thousands for wood floors, but obviously not if it's asbestos-y.

Any ideas? If I can get myself organised I'll post a pic.

There is no harm in asbestos if left undisturbed. If you do suspect asbestos get some proper advice, and dont try to remove the tiles.

More than likely will be Marley tiles, and would probably have asbestos in at that age, as said above, do not remove them yourself, no harm if left but you would need to consult a professional for removal, not suitable for re-furbing either.
