Chesterfields - who from?

We've been looking at chesterfields and seen a couple we have liked on the Internet but the showrooms aren't near us and we are wary of ordering something we haven't seen. Going by their web sites they both seem to make quality products and we can get nearly identical goods from either or. The companies we have found on the Internet are Saxon leather/timeless chesterfields or Howland & Fleming(chesterfields1780). If it makes any difference we need two three seater sofas and a chair.

Has anyone used either of these companies? Did you get good or bad service? Have you used any other companies for a Chesterfield? We have looked in most of the furniture shops near us and in quite a few different towns/cities nearby but no one has anything that comes close to what we like - we are in North East scotland if anyone knows of anywhere which might keep something suitable.

My friend has a chesterfield style sofa and she got hers from John Lewis. It's beautiful Grin

Yes we have looked at JL but can't see anything in the style we are looking for though they do have a couple that are really nice.

We considered a chesterfield (although ended up going for a different style)
Timeless Chesterfield were really helpful, we would have been buying online too. They sent us the most beautiful catalogues and leather samples.

bewhooohooove timeless don't send our brochures now, everything is electronic so they are all online. I received brochures today from Fleming and Holland and they are really really nice, very well made and the sofas look amazing in them - some of them are a bit on the expensive side though but glad to say the ones we like aren't too bad.

luckily enough we are down by manchester area in a couple of weeks so we are going to try and pop by and have a look around, we can pop by timeless chesterfields as well as that isn't far from Manchester either

Ours are from Howland & Fleming and we love them.

We had the same problem; all the showrooms had very few models and all ugly so we ordered online to deliver to the Central Belt in Scotland.

The service was impeccable and the sofas are amazing (we have a very large three seater monster and a two seater). They've been abused by a baby, a toddler, mud, wellies, etc.

I wanted something we wouldn't be precious about and they've turned out to be sturdy and are ageing very well.

Forgot to say, we found our models a bit on the tall side, so they took the time to advise us and sent whole new sets of feet completely free of charge.

Real chesterfields are expensive though and you get what you pay for.
Chesterfield style are so different to the real McCoy.
We had 3 blood red 3 seaters and 2 chairs they cost an arm and a leg new, but ours were given by an elderly relative.
Even second hand you could expect to pay a few grand for the real ones, they hold value and are the best furniture by far.

poppy if you don't mind me asking which models did you get? its good to know you had impeccable service from them though and its also reassuring to hear when you had an issue they stepped up and helped out. The dimensions of most of them are slightly smaller than what we have now apart from the seat height, that's quite a bit higher but I don't think its a big issue. I have emailed them to ask if we can go visit when we are down that way in a few weeks so will see what they come back with.

theposter yep we realise they are expensive but are OK with that as long as we get what we want in quality and service.

I think what's throwing me is when searching on-line there seems to be lots of companies sell them and hand make them but they all seem to be based around Manchester/bolton area - they all use the same leathers(colours and names) - prices seem to vary a little between these companies but there isn't a lot in it. can there be that many people hand make sofas? they all use very similar descriptions for their manufacturing methods too.

peggy, we have the Hamilton and paid a bit extra to get one of the "premium" colours which we really liked.

I totally understand what you're saying; I'm big on researching things and drove myself nuts buying these sofas, especially because Scotland was bereft of places to actually see them (or they had one of two sad specimens in the store).

Eventually it came down to the fact that I just liked the H&F better (aesthetically speaking) and I'm really pleased because I can't fault the quality. They honestly have taken a serious beating and look amazing.

You're very welcome.

How exciting! I'm actually considering buying a couple of individual chairs so you've inspired me to pour over the catalogue again.

Hi I've just seen this post as I'm looking to get the same sofa as you from the same ppl, my question is, 1/ have you got the sofa up against the wall
2/ is the back of the sofa (headrest) very low?
3/ has the seat itself stayed plump? As my husband is worried it will go flat after awhile? .. also what colour did you get? As I want it in vintage crackled black.
Thanking you in advance x
