Too much choice!!

I am just about to decorate my hall, stairs and landing after moving house in June, at the moment the walls are papered white with a pattern, banister and door are mahogany, with a blue carpet.

I was thinking maybe laminate in thd hall, with a stripy carpet for stairs and landing, although oh, wants carpet everywhere. Also maybe a gold colour on the walls, something bright and cheerful, and white banister and doors.

What colours have you got?

Does your OH do the hoovering when your kids walk all over the carpet in muddy feet? ;)

I would avoid carpet in a hall at all costs, as it's so much more practical to clean up a wood/laminate floor when it gets grubby.

As for me, white bannister and door, wooden floor, oatmeal coloured stair carpet (if I had kids this would be changed lol), and putty coloured walls. All a bit neutral but it does work.

Striped stair carpet sounds fab.

I would do whatever you want but avoid hallway carpet!!

We have just started decorating ours. Woodwork is white, upper walls a slight off white, lower walls possible F&B borrowed light which has blue hues. We have a mid colour laminate flooring.

If I had stairs I would have a striped carpet. As above, avoid carpet other than the stairs. Yes, yes to the white paintwork.

Ok definate for laminate then!!! Should I go for a yellowy gold or a beige colour on the walls?

Mine is a slightly greyed white on the walls,this paper on a feature wallwww.fashionwallpaper.co.uk/media/catalog/product/cache/1/gallery/408x540/17f82f742ffe127f42dca9de82fb58b1///__auto_rset_1256__home-02.png?v=1 (is matte metallic and adds something,I could stare at it all day!),white woodwork,maple flooring in hall,black carpet with white/light grey flecks on the stairs.

I'm not a fan of beige at any time but,to me,it always looks more dreary in the hall/stairs.
