My whole house is going to be grey... Help! I'm addicted to grey.

I need to choose colours for the walls for my living room, dining room and hallway. I have every colour chart going, but I only like shades of grey haven't even read the book My bedroom is already grey: would it be hideous to have various shades of grey throughout my house? I think I already know the answer.
P.S. I know this is a terribly dull quandary.

Well......... We're just doing our hall stairs and landing, and the colour theme will be grey.

I really like it for a neutral colour, it's better then boring old magnolia ;)

We started off with one room grey. Then another room one went a different grey.
And then the hallway went a different grey
Wouldn't repaint tho, happy with them all.

I have just recarpeted my stairs , landing , bedrooms all different shades of grey carpet, it looks really good.

Grey is a good background for other colours which is why I think it is so popular.
Use it but I would add bits of bright pink/lime green/orange/red etc to make it more welcoming.

I've started the same.
I think it's because the newer grey paints available are more chalky and dense.
They're not cold blue/grey. I've got three rooms so far and attempting a fourth in the hall, stairs, landing but I'm starting to lean more towards a muted greeny/grey IYKWIM.

I agree with pannacotta. Use a light grey as a background with different colour accents.
I think dark/medium grey walls and white wood perk are a bit NEXT home and will date. Choose a warm rather than cool grey

Agree grey will be the new magnolia. Grey carpets always look too industrial to me? I think the whole shabby chic Cox&Cox etc I think, which is starting to become a little passe. When shabby veers from vaguely being antique furniture to twig hearts it always gets into trouble, as people all over copy on the detail cheaply and then the people who started the fad don't want a house that looks like the cheaper ones. Next industrial again (copper lights, less chrome, concrete flooring, metal sheets on walls etc), I think. So perhaps grey carpets after all!

Just paint everything grey.

if you don't like it then paint over it.

Right on the grey tip with you OP. After spending about £50 on paint samples I have gone with a beautifully subtle yet complex grey-white for the shared living spaces with a mid gray in a couple of rooms. And yes, I even braved grey carpet for the whole of the upstairs space. It was a mission to find the perfect shade but totally worth it and happy I didnt give up and settled for breige!! I went with westex ultima major in mercury which is being laid tomorrow! My favourite grey however is the porcelain entry floor :drool:

I have stone grey carpet running up stairs and landing and grey with glitter carpet for bedrooms,from the local firm in my village, I have grey and a silver and purple wallpaper going on in my bedroom , although one bedroom is all grey and silver with a feature wall.

Already have lovely,relaxing grey lounge.
Just having a loft conversion and I'm definite about grey carpet, grey-ish duvet covers (this is actually quite an exciting change as we've always had white ones for past 7years) Oh.....grey paint no doubt ......patterned curtains I think (can't stop looking at bird prints but think these will be dated very soon).


Might even treat myself to a new dressing gown.

I'm not sure what the next big thing will be! There's an industrial thing going on at the moment, but then there's also a pastel shade thing going on at the moment, too - lots of powder blue on Pinterest!

We had grey at our last place and I thought it looked elegant, muted and grown up. In our new place I am going for quite a minimal look with a more Muji/mid century modern/Scandi look, so lots of natural materials with walls that will probably be white when I get round to them.

Tell you what probably won't be in fashion again for a while though, and that's the magnolia textured wallpaper currently throughout! :o

I love grey walls but I agree that grey carpets always look a bit utilitarian, like a school, or a council office meeting room.
