I want a teal & lime lounge but don't know how, HELP!

The room isn't that bright and I fear that I will have to have a dark sofa so the room probably needs to be as light and airy as possible. Therefore I'm not sure whether to have teal or lime on the walls or whether the walls should be a white/light neutral and use teal & lime as accents (curtains, cushions etc.) I think teal/lime on walls could be too overpowering in a dark room but then accents alone might be too bland (we prob won't have a teal or lime sofa then I'm concerned that just cushions & curtains won't be nough). I see my options as being one of these three styles:

colours on walls

colours as accents, although imagine this with bright curtains

Or how about a muted version of the colour on the walls, to add colour but not be overpowering or dark, like this

Last idea - are feature walls past it now? Was half-thinking about neutral walls with one bright wall but not at all sure about this.

What colour are your sofas? your flooring?

I love very dark rooms- like this and this (sorry- no idea how to make that picture thing work!)

Have you looked at House of Turquoise (blog) for inspiration- loads of ideas on there, and her pinterest is great too. Ah- she actually has a 'turquoise and green' tag set up on side bar of blog- if you look on there I think you may find lots of ideas.

Floor is dark wood and sofas will be bought new so they can be anything really. Pinterest search is a great idea, thank you! I do love those dark rooms you linked too but I think the room needs a fair amount of natural light to be decorated like that and ours is pretty dark. Though, have just realsied that this is prob because of the big tree in the front garden and we could cut it down!

The previous owners in my house used dark colours, one of the bedrooms is teal on every wall - I love teal but my god dark paint just sucks all the light that comes in. For me coming from a house painted in magnolia to one with dark colours is depressing. I will be repainting the teal bedroom - leave a feature wall in teal but the rest is going to either white or a very light shade of teal.

If you are saying the room is dark already than perhaps you use teal and lime in furnishings out of the links you provided I personally prefer the second one but instead of a white sofa you could get a a sofa in teal or lime.

I share CaptainNancy's taste for deep colour on walls. If it works with the light, both day and night, it can give a room a real personality.

Sometimes a colour that looks dark on paper can become more of a neutral when it's all over the walls even if the natural light is limited. I would be inclined to use teal on the walls and then use accessories such as cushions or rugs to introduce the lime.
